Seeing there was such a good response last year to the thread I thought I'd ask the same question this year.đ
From what good intentions I had last year I only managed a few things off my list. I completed the II/21c Former Ch'in army and started the 4x6Cav elements of the II/61b Murong Hsein-pi army and they are almost done.I also completed my Tibetan allied elements for my Hindu Indians and odd elements here and there plus some scenery. I realized I have too many distractions,Family,DIY and Holidays before I even get near other armies and scenery.đ
My Indian armies are the biggest distraction, having completed several the Muslim Indians,Arab Indians are still yet to do and distract interest from my Chinese armies.Maybe in 2023 I can stay focused and manage to finish 2 or more armies.đ€
What projects do you have in mind for 2023?

For 2023, I'd like to add some fantasy elements to give some of my DBA armies a bit of spice when used for HotT.
As far as new armies, none that have really progressed beyond the earliest planning stages. I've tossed around the idea of doing a II/5h and/or II/9 Syracusan army a few times and I suppose I might get to it next year. II/63 Three Kingdoms Chinese is on the to-do list but dependent on a particular manufacturer filling out a partial range. I started pulling together IV/24 Khwarizmians at one point but wasn't satisfied with the figures; I might still get back to them eventually.

2023 plans are a bit vague, but may involve:-
Work on some Sassanian EHC in the 1/2 done pile.
Rework and repurpose some assorted 15mm near eastern types picked up second hand. Theyâre in dire need of some TLCâŠshould be able to make Nabatean/Arabo-Aramaean and/or a Palmyran army, once theyâre sorted and rescued.
Top up my Polybians with 2 x 4Ax, bought at Colours
[PLUSâŠ..An ECW Covenanter army I bought about 6 months ago (15mm Naismith).
Some more imagi-nations mid-C18th troops in 15mm (the state of GrĂŒnvertz, a sometime ally or enemy of my red and blue nations, Kirschenbourg and Himmelstett).
Finish a second retinue for LION RAMPANT (15mm, new weapons fitted, already primed).
A Goblin LotR army (eg for DRAGON RAMPANT, or possibly HottâŠ.been primed).
Make a rather novel set of armies from 2mm CRAFT FOAM , for generic Horse and Musket. An idea nicked from a facebook post. Supremely portable.
Paint assorted BUILDINGS and FENCESâŠ..thereâs a distinct backlog (!!) ]
And then work on my ability to actually achieve a published list of jobsâŠâŠâŠ..đ”âđ«

For me, the key focus will be the conclusion of the 6mm rebasing project, started at the back end of 2021, which should see all my Baccus Classical Ancient period armies on 60mm wide bases by the end of Spring.
I have recently purchased a large batch of second hand Legio Heroica Crusaders and Muslims, in various stages of painting, which will form the bulk of 2023's work in 15mm (probably starting in earnest around the middle of the year and taking me through to the end of 2023, in all probability).
Finally, I've got the Forged in Battle Thracians, Parthians and Later Greeks to paint, and these will hopefully be sorted by April/May time.

I think it's safe to say that this year will be a continuation of painting/repainting and basing/rebasing of the lead pile. This includes 25mm Khwarizmians, Anglo-Danish, and Alexandrian Macedonians, plus numerous bits and pieces for 15mm.
At some point I WILL finish everything!!

My plan is to keep clearing the backlog of collected armies and avoid buying more. I would like to move away from the book 1 armies that have kept my attention this year and maybe do some Asian armies. Maybe a Hott Jason and the argonauts army as well thanks to jim1973. I may even (shock horror) finally get a Facebook account to post some pictures. Also attend as many trounaments as the boss allows. All the best for 2023 everyone KG

I'm currently painting some stuff which is out of period and will carry on with this in the new year. But in DBA terms, it will be a toss up between Pyrrhic (II/27b) and Khazar (III/16), perhaps even both.
I have asked Santa for the Heavy Chariots required to morph my Middle Assyrians (I/25a) into the Early Neo-Assyrian version of the list (I/25b), so I dare say they will feature at some point as well.

One definite project for 2023 is a Catalan Company army. A high probability project is the Medes, using figures that I originally set aside for EAP. And that perennial bridesmaid, Three Kingdom Chinese, may finally make its way to the painting table.

I read many bold plans to expand DBA collections, however, reducing mine will be the order for 2023. Of the 150 armies, at least half have not seen use, therefore, starting next month I will be offering a few each month at a âvery soft priceâ, until the collection reaches a manageable size.
The reduction will help focus the attention needed to develop scenarios for own use, such as the recent Anglo-Saxon saga. Others awaiting testing, centre around the Byzantine of the 10th/11th century, Spain during the Reconquista and Late Medieval Europe.
Some may require new armies.
