Didn't the Sassnids shackle their levy units to stop them legging it? And what about everyone's favourite Hd element, the dust-throwing women with banners mounted on oxen (II/61b)? I have read somewhere (do not ask me where or when) that in fact the Sassanids asked to be chained together. When killed they would form an obstacle. David Constable

"Should we refer to Knights as Pikes on horseback, Scythed Chariots as Pikes on wheels, and War Wagons as Pikes with bows?"
True.
But then the game equates 3CV with LCH, 2LH with 2CM, 3KN with 3CM and 4KN with HCH.
These comparison are problematical at best.
Since both are made up of disorganized swarms of really pissed off combatants, I would argue that a HRD is tactically and physically closer to a WBD than say a 2LH is to a LCM.

..and no one cares if they are lost. I care. If my Sassanid Levy Spearmen are lost, I feel that I am doomed!

quite right stevie and no one cares if they are lost. If I was a medieval Lord and all my servants, vassals, underlings were dead then I might be more than a tad concerned as to who exactly would be looking after all the crops, paying taxes and basically just doin’ the menial stuff I can’t be bothered with… cheers, Geoff

I think the Kharash tactics used by the Mongols in battles and sieges fits the description of Hordes. To use prisoners as human Shields and block shooting sounds like using Hordes to me.😁
