We know that the Saxons and other Germanic tribes from Denmark and northern Germany made coastal raids into the Roman provinces of Britannia and northern Gaul, so much so that the later Romans created a special command (the Comes Littoris Saxonici) to counter them. So why aren’t the Saxons Littoral? Here is what I am going to do:- I’m using the Littoral version of army II/73 from 250 to 617 AD, which becomes the more settled Arable Anglo-Saxon army of III/24a from 617 to 700 AD. Oh, my opponents can call them ‘Frisians’ if they like… …but I’m calling ‘em ‘Saxons’.

...that is the problem of PBs classification. But the Saxons were coastal pirates long before crossing to England. There are remains of the Saxon shore; as an example: Burgh Castle near Breydon Water in the Norfolk Broads....

This is valid for the entire period. I would like to see the Suevi with a third terrain type. 250, forest until 406, then arable, 411, hilly, settling in Galicia

There are remains of the Saxon shore; as an example: Burgh Castle near Breydon Water in the Norfolk Broads.... Burgh Castle has three of its walls still standing and I believe one is at original hieght. The fourth wall fell into the marsh long ago. This particular Saxon Shore fort was garrisoned by the Stablesian Cavalry. It is well worth a visit.
