I have a question for the DBA community. Camps on page 7 of the rules says:- “It must be in GOOD GOING (except Plough)…”
Now I’ve always read this to mean Camps cannot be placed on top of Plough. (Plough being an exception and is not classed as Good Going for Camp placement purposes). But some players read it differently and think it means you can place a Camp on top of Plough. So which is it?
It may seem trivial, and I myself am not bothered either way… …but it would be nice if we all interpreted this rule in the same manor.

The "going" of the plough isn't know until , the 1st PIP die is rolled .

…er…Camps are placed before deployment, and before the defender’s 1st PIP roll.
Are you saying that if the 1st PIP roll is a “1”, and the Plough becomes Rough Going, then the Camp placement is illegal (it’s not in Good Going), so the Camp must be moved?
I don’t think that was the intention of this rule.

The "going" of the plough isn't know until , the 1st PIP die is rolled . The rules actually say that "Plough is GOOD GOING but changes to ROUGH GOING if....." So at the point at which camps are placed, the Plough is (still) good going. I agree with stevie. Camps cannot be placed on top of plough.

I take the opposite view that camps can be placed on top of Plough, as it’s good going at the time of placement- seems a tad bizarre, but that’s how I read it…

I agree Menasussecundas. If it had said “It must be in GOOD GOING (including Plough)…”, then we wouldn’t be having this debate. But it doesn’t; it quite clearly says "except Plough".
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All this does lead us to another related problem… …what if a large 6 x 3 BW piece of terrain has been placed 1 BW from the table-edge, and there simply isn’t room to place a Camp?
You could say “well, it’s the responsibility of the invader to pick an edge where there IS room”, but what about the defender, who has no say in the matter?
I can think of three possible solutions to this dilemma:- 1) place the Camp so that it does fit, with part of it overhanging over the table-edge… 2) shift the impeding terrain slightly in order to make room… or 3) always place terrain not one by two BW from a table-edge, so there will be room.
Saying what the hell and allowing a Camp to be put on top of Plough might be acceptable, but what about placing Camps inside Woods or on Difficult Hills? So not a good solution.

Camping goes like this:
"Oh look! That looks like a decent bit of flat ploughed/crop field to put the festival tents up in."
Rain overnight.
Next morning: "Oh bloody hell! That was heavy rain last night. Apart from the tent leaking, I see it's all boggy and we can't move around as quick!"
