My newest biggest mistake took place yesterday in this autumn's Ulm tournament DEUS LO VULT–The Crusades.
In the themed setting 'The Baltic Crusade' I led my lithuanian army of Cv, LH and Ax against the prussian Cv and Wb (that swarmed the woods and the marshland). And my last battle of the day turned out to be the most surprising of all!
At first I moved a column of 4 cavalry to the left to threaten the enemy's right wing while my 5 LH stayed on my right.
He tried to intercept the Cv with his Wb and accordingly stretched his line all over the area (we played on a big mat of 80x80).
Then I thought the time was right to turn my Cv on the spot and smash down on the weakened prussian's centre.
My column turned disciplined and galopped along the edge of a big marsh.
Then two, three Wb dashed to the edge of the marsh and pinned my Cv down!
Marsh: Wb Wb Wb
GG: -> Cv Cv Cv Cv ->
They froze on the spot and dared not to fight the Wb in the marshland.
Then the prussian centre turned on my Cv and that was that.
The ensuing fight was chaotic and bloody.
In the end I had lost 4 units, but the prussians even 5, because my LH luckily managed to be there just in time...and saved my day.
Thank you, Ronald, this was fun!
The end. My Cv in heavy fighting on the left. My victorious LH in the centre.
