"Rivers are neither good nor other going" Elements that Pursue must therefore pursue into a river. Correct ?
When an element "dices for the state of a river" is it deemed to be in the river ?

I can find nothing in the rules that would prevent a pursuing element from entering a river. Note that it might be possible that a pursuing element is the first to enter the river. If a mounted element destroying a narrow foot element with its back against the river but not having been in the river, and had to pursue a full bass depth, it would need to check for the type of river. This is not as serious as it was in 2.2 because there is no need to roll any specific number in order to enter the river.
The question about when to test his answered in the FAQ
"Rivers:
Q: When crossing a river for the first time, do I have to test at its near bank? A: Yes, you test when you first touch the river.
Q: If I don’t have the movement to finish crossing a non-paltry river or I had to stop because I had moved more than 1BW when I contacted it , do I have to finish the crossing next turn?
A: No.

Q: If I had moved more than 1 BW to the river and, after testing, discovered the river restricts movement to 1BW, has the element entered the river?
Does the act of testing put you into the river, or do you only enter the river if you test and have enough movement to do so ?
Testing does mean that you have to enter the river if you are able to (ie have movement left) ?
As I understand it nobody who has entered a river is obliged to complete the crossing next turn - but they are fixed with regard to direction (forward or backward) until they clear the river completely ?
All comments appreciated. Thanks

All comments appreciated. Thanks You gotta stick your toe into the river to test. You test when you touch. If you roll that your movement is limited... then it is limited. Your direction is fixed until you exit the river. For an element that moved and didn't have the movement left to cross... this may mean a very small move to the rear to pull its front edge out. Does that help? Joe Collins
