I have really now got into the Italian wars.
I am reading about the Medici family and their influence on the renaissance and Italian politics.
I also have the osprey book on the Condotiere and their book on the Italian wars.
I have the 6mm Italian wars range from Irregular Miniatures. With these I can make up armies for the Condotiere, and those of Charles V and Francis 1
I use DBA rules and the army lists contained therein. The army lists seem fairly in line with the army make ups I am reading about.
I enjoy the Italian Wars as they cover the same time era as my other fascination, the War of the Roses, in England.

Cromwell, I can recommend “ The Art of War in Italy 1494 – 1529” by Frederick Lewis Taylor, Cambridge. An excellent overview of tactics and strategy with an analysis of the infantry, cavalry and artillery of the period. I am reading the book again to refresh my memory.
