I've calculated that since the start of the lockdown in the UK (March 2020) I've painted over 50 DBA armies. Sadly for me, the main thing has been the painting of figures. This means that, despite concentrating on flocking etc recently, I still have to decorate the bases of over 50 armies. Is this just me? Does everyone else paint the figures and gloop the bases as soon as the figures are completed?

The retro-look just might be the answer.

Pva them with sand....you have a natural base that you can paint later.😁 I second this suggestion. When dry, painting the ground with thinned earth colour is a small step. Adding grass and tufts can be done later at a leisurely pace.

Spot on Robert, I undercoat with a Mud type colour and then dry brush it with a Sand or Grass Green colour before adding flock or grass...I find it effective.

Wow 50 armies in two years that’s impressive. Makes my goal of one a month for this year seem feeble. I always base as the final part once the figs are finished. Personally I flock with different colours to save time painting.

Personally I flock with different colours to save time painting. It's not that impressive when you realize I had stuff-all else to do for several months (family in the house = no writing). Painting that much drove me nuts, but having nothing to do would have been worse!
As for bases, mainly sand then greenwash, then some flock. I'm paying the price now .....

Nope! Not at all! I declared “this is silly” last November and started basing. I only got back to figure painting in February!

I also goop, paint and flock as each base is completed. Makes it a much more manageable task.
Cheers,
