Lesp1964 raises a very good point.
Both DBA 3.0 and DBMM 2.0 say that the Zanji 3Bd in the III/37 Abbasid army list were
East African slave troops traded by sea and then armed with swords, javelins and shields.
Well, there is a big difference between desperate slaves fighting for their very existence
compared to merely handing a bunch of untrained unskilled slaves who don’t know how
to fight and don’t want to be there some swords and javelins…
Making the Zanji Warbands, or even Hordes, seems much more likely than skilled 3Bd.
Personally speaking, I certainly don’t think that ALL 3Bd should be 6Bd.
Limit 6Bd to desperate slaves with no hope (plus the fanatical Swiss)…not everybody.
