Hi! i don't think it was proposed before so, what about : 1) Cv and LH (not Chariots) not destroyed if they are flanked by any Infantry and loose a fight (and normally will be destroyed), they still can recoil, to represent the agility of Cavalry against much slower troup. or maybe that the cavalry is routed and not destroyed? 2) LH can exit a close combat fight against Foot as they want... Of course, they must exit the current enemy TZ first. so Cavalry armies will have some more advantage on slow ones. tell me what you think about that: Eric

The best rule for Bow armed Cav is that they gain the keyword Evade. If doubled they convert a Destroyed result into a Flee result if they have a higher MA in the Terrain they occupy then their opponent.
Evade is negated by Bow armed opponent in Close Combat.
It works well we use it as a standard rule.

ok yes i saw that option, it could be interesting and serve more and less the same purpose, i proposed that house rules cause it always seem strange to me (and to some friend too ) that foot units could keep LH stuck in a fight (and also that Ps could flank stronger units too but... ) maybe it's a little too powerfull?

I think a viable but less drastic tweak for more agile troops could be that any element in combat not destroyed by its opponent recoils (or chooses to either recoil or flee) on any result other than opponent destroyed, unless wrapped (enemy in corner to corner contact with flank or rear).
I say more agile troops, because I'd see applying this to any troop of a different type and with a longer move distance in the occupied terrain as a better reflection of the behaviour of LH, Cv, 3Ax, Ps, 3Wb and even Kn or El than standing there in front of a shield wall swapping blows, as well as redressing the balance between loose and close troop types.
I wondered about Kn and El, but the the fact that one element in a group in combat may QK and pursue, while others may recoil opens interesting possibilities in subsequent rounds.
