As I'm updating my Gauls and Caesarian Romans ( Marian), I picked up Rick Priestley's "Hail Caesar" rules set. Had eye towards giving these rules a roll for much larger multi player games and want to use my DBX based 15mm armies. From what I can see of the rules set it would be a near seamless transition ( even though Priestley admits that his groups preferred scale is 28mm.). Anyway, for anyone who has tried, thoughts on the game?
I'm assuming you meant "4" for regular bases. Glad to hear you like it. The game philosophy suits my current gaming sensibilities so I hold out high hopes for fun. Do you do anything special for skirmishers and light infantry? ( or do you simply separate the units into their constituent DBA stands?)
...i think HC is a game made by a company that makes miniatures. Such manufacturers optimize their rules for their products - 28 mm miniatures. Using 15mm miniatures for Tabletop games gamers have to decide what bases are best...
I do indeed mean 4 for regular. As far as for what goes on a base basically we just use our DBA bases. So warband are 3 to a base, javelin lads are psilo stands, cav 3 and LH two figs light chariots single one to a base. So 4 chariots to a regular unit. Their Roman enemies same rules apply so legion and solid aux are 4 to a base, archers are 3 lights and slingers etc Psiloi artillery we usually just leave as a single stand to a unit cos we ain't got many.
Will try to take a few pics tomorrow.
We usually do 350 or 400 point games with 2 or 3 divisions.
