Hi everyone
I'm trying to work out where a unit leaving a fort starts it's move from...
I was guessing that it will begin at the gate but then I notice that the fort's garrison is 'placed near it's centre but representing defenders manning it's perimeter.'
I can't find anything else other than this - so now I sit on the horns of a dilemma..from the gate, or does the unit just move from the centre of the fort??

Most people play ‘from the gate’.

I’m with Martin.
If the Fort were large, say 6 x 3 BW, and the gate were placed on one of the short sides, it could take an element “in the centre of the fort” two or three bounds to even reach it!… …which seems a bit harsh.
Note also that enemy Threat Zones do not penetrate a Camp, City or Fort perimeter (see the latest 2020 FAQ)…but the instant the element steps through the gate it may fall under the influence of an enemy Threat Zone.
