OK, I just want to make sure we are playing this correctly. All of these elements are in frontal contact/combat, does element B and D provide overlaps for element C who is fighting element 3? Just trying to make sure that an element can provide overlaps while in frontal contact/combat themselves.
1 2 3 4 5 6 A B C D E F
Thanks very much.

If 1-6 and A-F are two straight lines, then no.
However, if some elements had been recoiled, so the lines were no longer straight, say
3 1 2 4 6 A B C D 5 F E
then: C provides an overlap for both B (fighting 2) and D (fighting 4); D is itself overlapped by 5 and 5 also overlaps F (fighting 6); and 5 (fighting E) is overlapped by both D and F

Ok, Thanks very much. That makes sense to me. That was how we have been playing it, but last night another player thought that we were interpreting it wrong.

Isn't it the case that no element can give corner to corner overlap if itself is in frontal contact, but can if it is in side edge to side edge overlap while in fontal contact.
