That is a nice campaign format Kaiphranos. Well thought out, quite detailed, and neatly presented. I very much like it. 👍 I just have some quick questions:- Strategic Movement: in each season, does each nation take their turn to move their forces, or do players secretly write down their moves which are then revealed together so that all armies move simultaneously? Mercenaries: do these become part of the army or are they treated as DBA ‘Allies’? I also have a possible suggestion:- Repetitive Terrain: in order to stop players from selecting the same terrain pieces (or at least the same ‘type’ of terrain) over and over again in each province and battle, would it not be better to randomize this a bit? There are two ways this could be done...either completely randomly as I did here:- static.wikia.nocookie.net/fanaticus-dba/images/d/d0/Randomly_Generated_Terrain_Chart.pdf/revision/latest?cb=20190826143945 ,or make each player secretly chose 1 compulsory and either 1 or 2 optional terrain pieces appropriate for that region, with each player alternating placing their own chosen terrain in the rolled for quarters starting with the defender. (Normal terrain limits would still apply, so only 1 Waterway, 1 River, 1 BUA, 1 Gully, up to 2 Roads, a maximum of 3 of the other types, and only 5 pieces in total...excess terrain being discarded)Just a thought.

Thanks for the input, stevie! It was helpful to think about these. I was definitely thinking simultaneous strategic movement, so I have spelled that out in the rules. As for mercenaries, I was envisioning these being part of the army rather than allied contingents. (I imagine army compositions are going to deviate from the book lists over time anyway.) Though it does bring up a point that perhaps there should be a way for players to contribute allied contingents to each others' armies somehow... For the terrain, I hadn't thought about that being a potential problem, but I will definitely keep your method in mind if it does seem like things are getting too samey. Thanks, Baldie! Remind me not to be your neighbor!

I think the DBA Ally rules work quite well. Allow players to ‘lend’ a contingent of up to 3 elements to another player. During Strategic Movement they simply write “lent to so-and-so”, and it is so-and-so that writes down their movement and their use in battle. Imagine the diplomatic repercussions of this:- * if you ask for help they may just send you a load of old crap... * so-and-so could use your contingent as a suicide squad, and deliberately get them all killed... * the original owner must still pay for their upkeep, unless they can agree on some payment... * the original owner can secretly order them to leave and move somewhere else, leaving your ally in the lurch at a critical moment (or even join the enemy prior to a battle!)... ...in all the above cases, seek out better allies. And speaking of payment, it might be a good idea talk about 48 talents of gold in your treasury, gaining talents of gold from a province, and spending talents of gold to raise new troops. (The word talent has a nice ancient feel to it)

This looks good. I can see me adapting the format for other areas and eras.
