Compiling a list of items to be purchased from Museum Miniatures I noted the latest additions to the “Z” range, Sparabara spearmen and archers. For the Battle of Platea, the Persians lack only their heavy and Bactrian cavalry as Indian and Scythian mounted are already done. Very tempting, www.museumminiatures.co.uk/new-releases.html

All of the new 'Z' range figures are 'pretty.'
Some are a bit too active for my bases though. And based on the comparison shots or the Sumerians, have too much scale creep for my taste.
Pity. It was bad enough with the earlier ranges - as time went on the additions just got bigger. Hard to add to existing armies when the new figures dwarf to old. Same problem with Xyston - I have a few lots picked up rather cheaply off of ebay and TMP that, regrettably, don't mix well.
Perhaps as these were mastered digitally, Museum might consider reducing them back to a 'true' 15 (or even 18mm).

Ironically, they describe them as true 15mm scale, but I am not convinced... as lovely as they are 😉 P

Goragrad,
That is a shame, but it is useful information to keep me on track with my current project.

Here are a couple pics of Museum Z-range figures, side-by-side with Essex figures. They alternate, left to right, starting with Museum. Second pic (below) shows three unpainted Museum Z-range Greeks with one Essex Macedonian (in helmet), again for height and heft comparison. --Some of my vintage Mikes Models Thebans and Macedonians are at far left and far right. I'm usually very critical of the dreaded scale-creep, but the Z-range figures I have seen, to me, seem compatible with Essex and other similar ranges.

Those pictures are interesting, paul.
Considering that back in September of 2019 the consensus on the 'Z' range Sumerians was that they were pretty, but had too much creep.
One wonders if Museum decided to scale down the newer releases?
With digital models should be easy enough.
It does raise the question of whether all of the new 'Z' ranges will be consistent in scale?
Museum usually has an end of year sale and I am looking forward to picking up a few packs of the older lines to be able to get some odds and sods some company so I that I can make consistent elements (these figures won't mix well with others). Knowing which 'Z' ranges are 'true 15s' would be good.

I don’t think that even Essex is consistent across its ranges. Some of their Byzantine horse are quite a bit smaller than others - definitely different modellers made their masters. However, I generally find Museum to be on the large side bordering on the unusably large. Certainly all the packets I have bought from them remain in my unpainted lead pile - however I haven’t bought their Z range yet.

War waggons, organ guns and pavises for me. I'd have to look at the war waggons - been a while since I picked them up and they are still in the lead pile. However as I recall they are a skosh long for a 40mm base, although might woek on one on the diagonal. Have three of the organ guns which are decent if a bit large, although not as bad as the OG15 Rank and File which look like they might need a 50mm deep base... I just ordered three organ guns from Alternative to have consistency when deploying 2 ART for some later Book IV armies. On the other hand the Alternative war waggons are a major construction project - lots of pieces. Sides, ends, and bottom all separate...

Definitely a disparity in size with Essex even in the same sequence on occasion. The old Tabletop lines from Alternative may be the most consistent I have seen.

Thank you for the information. I have four protected waggons from Museum of which two can be seen with the Polish Army. The portion which protrudes is more a problem when storing them, but not on the battlefield. Hungarians, Medieval German and Polish armies may have two with the standard list, so more will be needed.
