Some of you may remember some pictures I put together based on the connections between different armies in DBA back on the Fanaticus boards...well, the original ones. I was digging into something else recently and re-discovered some work I'd done to make it more accessible so in the interests of sharing, here it is:
Basically each point is an army, and you can select each army to see who their enemies were, but the more interesting bit is you can the expand in and out to see how those connect

That is pretty cool. Do you have plans to link up what each army consists of on the left side of the map? My mind is running wild with the possibilities. You could also show in those links the common elements. So looking at the enemies of the Late Roman Army many of their enemies relied heavily on warbands so with a little modification you could make multiple armies out of base army of say 8 Wb.

I've just pulled this back up again after about 4 years, so hadn't really thought about what else I could do. I do like your idea of adding the element types (although I'll have to work out exactly how to do it so it's actually useful), so when I get a chance I'll have a play with it and see what we can do any other suggestions people have I'll be happy hear, but I do have to work within the limitations of the software (or go and teach myself how to program something to do the other...) One thing that I think would be interesting to do would be to add a 'shortest path' tool where you can select any two armies and see the smallest number of enemies to link the two...e.g. New Kingdom Egyptian through to Medieval French

Doing a 'betweeness' analysis that works out the items that appear on the most paths the Alan army is definitely the most common on the paths
I've tweaked the output so the 'betweeness' affects the size of the nodes, but I'm not sure if that comes through on the regular view or only on my view
