Currently building a LIR army. For the general officer (3Kn) he has a shield as does one other mounted figure on the base with the other holding a draco. For the shield designs on the two mounted figures, would you use one similar to what the legions are using or the auxilia or am I digging into the weed too much?

Have you got uncle Phil's book 'Armies and Enemies of Imperial Rome'? I'd use a variant of the pattern designated for the Praetorians in there. If you haven't, doubtless someone on here has the relevant page.

If you lack Phil’s book, Luke-Ueda Sarson’s website should prove useful. lukeuedasarson.com/NotitiaPatterns.htmlInformation covering guard units can also be found here: lukeuedasarson.com/NDscholae.html

Wow. I totally forgot about the guard. Ok I will use one of them once I find it. I do have Phil’s book and have looked through the ND but it never clicked to use the praetorian guard. Well at least until they were disbanded. Thanks guys.

I need to apologize for being a bit stupid. Sorry. My excuse is that I'm currently researching Constantius III and my brain has turned to mush. If you have the book, go to page 107, as there are patterns there probably from guard units. Also, as timurilank says, Luke-Ueda Sarson’s website is a good source of inspiration.
