I'm interested in playing Big Battle DBA but I'm tripping up the difference between "allied" and "non-allied" and "main army".
I see from the DBA3.0 Army Lists section (page 33 onwards) that there are Enemies and Allies. I don't have enough armies to play Allies yet, so no experience.
In the description for Army Lists it talks about these allies incorporating into the "main army". This I understand.
Am I right in thinking the "main army" and "non-allied army" as specified in the Big Battle DBA section (page 15) are exactly the same thing?
Dice rules for Big Battle DBA:
Assuming I've understood the army naming stuff correctly...
If I don't use an allied command, ie, 36 elements from the main army/ non-allied army, then I use 3 dice the same colour.
I identify which command takes the highest roll and down the line to the lowest roll.
If, however, I do have an allied command, of 12 elements, that has it's own coloured dice which it always rolls.
The remaining 24 element main army/ non-allied army have 2 dice, one for each command, the same colour.
I then identify the command which takes the highest roll of those 2 dice?
On this basis I would have 3 different coloured dice if I chose 2 allied commands, yes?
Final question - camps.
Big Battle DBA section (page 15, 3rd paragraph) ...
"An allied command must be provided with it's own camp; otherwise the whole army has 1 normal-size camp...".
I am interpretting that to mean whenever I use an allied command it must have a camp of it's own, as well as the main /non-allied army's camp.
but if I have no allied army, I use one camp for the main/ non-allied army.
If I have 2 allied commands I must have a camp for each command and a camp for the main/ non-allied army.
Does all that sound correct?
I'm aware my page numbers are different than those listed elsewhere on the forum. These are my numbers, so I've tried to include headings to point out the correct sections.
