Having come back to DBA 3.0 after playing v1.0 years ago, I realise there's one thing that the rules still haven't answered for me. In v1.0 Wb were described as 'unusually vulnerable to harassment by psiloi', and in V3 this has changed to 'sensitive to harassment by psiloi'. But the rules never seemed to reflect this, and I still can't see anything to cover it. There seem to be no results in close combat, or other rules that make Wb react differently to attacks by Ps.
What have I been missing all these years?

Hi Simon,
You are correct, the Wb are in theory vulnerable to attacks by Ps. But I think that the number of armies with enough Ps in them to carry out such maneuvers, without leaving gaps elsewhere, is limited. So in reality, you don't see it very often. But that might just be my experience/collection!
Best, Ed

OK, but the same can be said of Pike can't it? I see your point, but the way the rules were written always made me feel I was missing something when it comes to Wb vs Ps.

I will have to go back to my V2 rules and see if the pursuit rules excluded Ps from the mix, but I think that in V2 the 'unusually vulnerable to harassment by psiloi' category stemmed from the Wb being unable to kill the Ps but having to pursue if they pushed then back or forced them to flee. A couple of well placed Ps attacks could break up a line of Wb. It is likely to be a transcription of text that didn't keep up with the changes to the rules. After all when you read the army blurb for the Prussians it talks about the Nobles and immediate follwers (Wb) and the unenthusiastic peasant farmers (Ax) --> but as DBA3 evolved which of the two stands a better chance against the Teutonic Knights (hint the Wb has a lower factor against mounted Cheers

I checked the v2.2 rulebook yesterday morning and indeed Wb had to pursue Ps that recoiled or fled.
Not only that but in 2.2 only elements that gave rear support pursued behind Wb (as opposed to now, where the whole column behind a pursuer joins in the fun)
The Ps could hit a line of Wb and because they took the overlap negative but couldn't be killed they could go in with a very low factor and be forced to flee breaking up the Wb line but getting away.
cheers
