Hi all. I've had mixed results with the varnishes I've tried using in the past. Does anybody have a recommendation for an acrylic matt/satin varnish? Due to my asthma I can't use the enamel types any more.

It is an Acrylic Matt varnish (400ml).

This worked like a charm and unlike Dullcote has less an offensive smell. Motip clear matt acrylic varnish - euro 7,99 www.gamma.nl/assortiment/motip-spuitvernis-transparant-mat-400-ml/p/B470539

I have had no problems whatsoever with the DecoArt Americana varnishes:
I love that I get to brush on the varnish. No more spraying, don't have to worry about the weather, have complete control over how much varnish I use, etc..
Oh, and insanely affordable!

I used to use Vallejo Matt varnish but tried the Vallejo premium airbrush Matt varnish. I brush it on and think it's great.

Hi There
The original varnish goes on ok but as it is a little milky I find I needed to keep working it in to avoid it settling in the nooks and crannies of the figures.
As the airbrush stuff is a bit thinner to allow it to be sprayed it goes on much easier.
I am not long down the road with it so only my EW Germans have been done with it but no sign of chipping so far.
Even if I had to do two coats I think it would be quicker to do than one coat of the original.
I am def happy with it.

I bought a bottle on the strength of your recommendation, but have only just started using it. My Early Swiss and I also think it is great. (Like you, I simply brush it on.)
