After looking at jdesmond's minimalist camp I wondered what size and shape of camps do people use?
What do people think are the pluses and minuses of using larger and small camps.
Has anyone ever used a 20mm by 80mm rectangle camp and if so in what orientation, along the base line or projecting into the battlefield?

This is an an interesting subject Sheffmark. I had a similar question about a camp’s shape here:- fanaticus.boards.net/thread/2043/camp-curved-edgesOne thing I have tried and is entirely within the rules is the following:- Have a Camp 2½ by 1½ BW in size (1½ BW is needed to model the camp’s perimeter). Place the Camp with the narrow side touching your table base edge. Have an Art element defending the Camp (Art are classed as foot elements, so can defend Camps). The Art would have a range of 7½ BW (2½ + 5 BW from the Camp edge, reaching the table centre-line). With a 4 BW deep Waterway behind your invading army the range would be 11½ BW! The Art would have a combat factor of 4 when shooting, or a CF of 6 if assaulted or shot at. (Only ‘garrison artillery’ inside a City or Fort have their CF reduced to 2, not when in a Camp)Could be a good way of defending a wing...and if the enemy stays lurking in their half of the table the Art could always leave the Camp and advance if need be.

That is some top drawer rules 'jurisprudence'!

After looking at jdesmond's minimalist camp I wondered what size and shape of camps do people use? I'm trying to stick to two 40x40 mm bases for my 15 mm army camps, so they're 1x2 BW. Usually deployed 2 BW wide and 1 BW deep.

Model a pleasing and appropriate camp for your army, whatever size that happens to be. Mine are either 40x80 or 80x80 depending on what I'm trying to fit onto it. A King of Assyria needs an impressive tent to match his impressive ego no matter how big the base ends up being. Don't try to weaponize it. If your argument is "but it's legal", you've already lost the argument in any decent society. It's just a game, just play it without trying to play your opponent.

I have used Baueda tents as the camp for several of my armies. Usually, they fit nicely onto a 40x40 base (i.e. 1 BW x 1 BW). However, the Viking tent I am painting at the moment is considerably bigger and will be mounted on a 80x60mm base.

What Mark Leslie says is true... ...but my bunch of opponents are devious buggers. Even if they didn’t think of something themselves, as soon as they see me do it they all copy me. So it’s wise to be aware of these legal rule exploits, even if you never plan to use them yourself.
