Hello
I am considering buildng both aztec and conquistadores armies for playing both HOTT and DBA3.0.
For the figurines, I think I will use Essex, Gladiator and Khurasan miniatures for both the Aztecs and Spanish (and their allies). Does anybody have any feedback on the compatibility of these ranges ?
But I have a big problem with the HOTT elements for the aztecs. I have found a nice feathered snake from Reaper to act as a flyer or a god, but I wanted to build a base of an aztec human sacrifice to act as a magician or a cleric. In 25mm, Eureka does make a nice set, but in 15mm, there seems to be none. I fear that my only option is to do some kind of heavy surgery using various miniatures (for instance a Donnington impaled figurine for the victim). Hence my request for help, does anyone have any idea or suggestion to build an aztec human sacrifice in 15mm ?
For the aztec camp, I will look on Ebay if I can find a nice aztec temple/pyramid of the appropriate size, I am confident I will find one, but any suggestion will be welcome.
Yours sincerely
Claude

Mine are Naismith and are really nice! Lovely figs, if a bit teeny / genuine 15mm ?

Arent Tin Soldier around any more. I remember that certainly their 25mm Aztecs looked genuinely 'Azteccy' (look at them and you will see what I mean) I imagine their 15mm version would be just as good.

I don’t know if Naismith are on the small side or not. I haven’t compared them plus the entire army with allies etc is Naismith so it doesn’t show.
I looked at Tin Soldier before going for Naismith. They are nice but I found them a bit too “cartoonish” for my liking. I think I’ve just put the samples I ordered in my “to be melted” pot.

Thanks everybody for your feedback.
Nobody can tell me if Essex and Galdiator figurines can be mixed ? I think that Naimsith and Tin soldiers are effectively very nice on their own, but the advantage of Essex and Gladiator is that they have multiples poses for one reference, thus adding variety to the army. Otherwise nobody has any idea for a sacrifice set in 15mm ?
Yours sincerely

Nobody can tell me if Essex and Gladiator figurines can be mixed ? Whether ranges can be mixed is inherently subjective. Personally, I think the differences in style between Essex and Gladiator / Black Hat are too vast to mix together. (Disclaimer: I almost never mix ranges, so I'm obviously more than a little biased.) Both are beautiful ranges. Best option would be to sample both and see for yourself if you think they can be mixed. And, if not, then simply choose which range you would most enjoy painting.

Thanks for your answer. That does sound a reasonnable advice, all the more than the aztec army is not too large in DBA/HOTT and both ranges do already offer quite a large variety of references.
