With my background it is probably of little surprise that I have an interest in Air Wargames.
Last year I purchased "Wild Blue Yonder" by GMT games. This is a wonderfully thought out card driven game of aircraft to aircraft combat, dogfighting, bombing runs and campaign rules are included.
Last week I purchased "Blood Red Skies" Battle of Britain starter set from Warlord Games. This is a miniatures game and the set includes 6 X Spitfire MKII's 6 x ME109E's, 3 x heavy duty card templates of Blenheim MKI and Dornier 17. Terrain comprising of heavy duty card 2D Clouds and Barrage Balloons. Numerous markers and chits as well as various cards giving different skills and traits. Range finder, measuring rule and navigation dividers. Also included are bases for the aircraft designed so the aircraft can be positioned level, Climbing or diving. Called in the game Neutral, advantaged and disadvantaged. There is no record keeping at all various cards can be played to use various skills.
So impressed I went and purchased the Korean War expansion "Mig Alley"!
If you have any interest in Air Wargaming on an aeroplane on aeroplane scale this is well worth looking at.
Just finished painting up all the models which are 1/200th scale. Aircraft in the starter set are plastic but metal in the "Mig Alley" expansion.

The game and expansion packs can be pricey if you order from Warlord Games. I picked up mine from e-bay for a lot less.
I am tempted to get the Defiant Squadron expansion next.
However having a bit of knowledge about WW2 aircraft performance I am thinking of sourcing 1/200th scale aircraft and making up my own aircraft cards. Probably still have to get the bases from Warlord though.

You had me on "no record keeping". Off to look it up, thanks! Yes the no record keeping does it for me as well. In fact take a look at "Wild Blue Yonder" that has no record keeping either. The only records their are if you are running a campaign and then it is only what missions your have flown and victory points earned.
