Can you help? I am looking for some painting inspiration for basic shield patterns. If I have a preference it would be for post 1250. I've already had one interesting reply over on ANCMED. I'd still like a few more.

Have you checked out the transfers made by Little Big Man Studios? Yes I have. Someone on LAF pointed me to them: very complex but some should simplify and the colour schemes will help.

Dem Rooskies MAY have had a similar system to the Polish/Lithuanians. Heraldry was very simple and limited to family blazons so if your name was, say Smith, you had the 'Smith' blazon. I have just muddied the waters somewhat here I think. Coins and Church art are always a good pool of ideas. My instinct would be that everyone probably just had a boring plain shield apart from the bigwigs who had bright and breezy ones. Sorry no help at all I know.
