I've only been playing DBA3.0 for 3 years and still feel like a noobie....so I found this problem. Deployment rules say Cav, LH, Cam, Mtd Inf and Aux or Ps must deploy at least 2BW away from the battlefield side edges and all others at least 4BW away." So can LCh deploy in that hatched area? Indeed cam LCm?
Troop definitions says "Cavalry representing Cav, and also LCh" appears to both imply the LCh should be treated as Cav in all respects but also appears to distinguish between the two in a different way to LH which says "including LH and LCm." Hence my confusion.
My immediate gut gut instinct was no LCh can't deploy there. PB is very clear and if he wanted LCh to deploy there he'd has said so clearly. However, I'm now thinking I was wrong and that Cavalry include both Cav &a LCh......so what's the official ruling?

I have always assumed, played solo, and in tournaments that LCh act exactly the same as Cv except for their base depth differing.
Hope myself and others were doing it right, but now you have me wondering.

The sweet thing about camels (either light or otherwise), is that they treat dunes and oasis as good going.

Except, of course, that LCm are LH (designed by a committee)! Scott

I am late here, but want to add a big ditto to all who say LCh acts the same as Cav just on deeper bases.
Since Paddy649 referred to the "hatched zone" he was considering Figure 1a in the Diagram section* Note that there is an important mistake in the text for Figure 1a. The text reads, "Some troop types, Cavalry, Camelry, Light Horse, Auxilia or Psiloi, can also deploy in the shaded area. This extends to 2 BWs from the battlefield edge." Missing from that list is Mounted Infantry. The text in the actual rules reads, "Cavalry, Light Horse, Camelry, Mounted infantry and Auxilia or Psiloi must deploy at least 2 BW away from battlefield side edges and others at least 4 BW away."
It is necessary to read the actual rules text and not rely on the Diagrams. They are useful for clarification.
*I have always wondered why the section is called "Diagrams" but the contents are "Figures."
