The discussion about rivers and going has led me down this train of thought:
We know that Page 6 says “Area terrain features can be BG, RG or GG.” We also know that an element that is partly in GG and partly in any other sort of going counts as being in the other sort of going but cleverly PB separates all area terrain pieces by at least a BW so it is highly unusual for an element to be in both RG and BG at the same time. But it can happen, for instance with a 80mm deep Wwg, 60mm deep 6Kn or 6Cav or if a 40mm x 40mm base was particularly poorly positioned.
So - Question 1. If an element is at least partly in GG, RG and BG simultaneously what going is it in?

My first thought was...”Wouldn’t there have to be a 1BW gap between RG and BG”...which on second thoughts still leaves a potential for a slightly diagonally placed element to have corners in both, I guess. It’s therefore in ‘the Land of Confusion’ and gets minus 4 on all combats, and takes three PIPs to move 😊, thereafter fleeing the field to go for a long lie down in a darkened room....

Yes you can just get both corners in there on a 40 x 40 base but remember Wwg and DBE can be in bigger bases still.
I like the idea of a -4 for being so stupid! 😃

Surely it is deemed to be in the worst going for that element?
Uncertainly,

Automatic draw, as one argues relentlessly with one’s opponent what the rule SHOULD be until timed out by the tournament organiser 😎. This does require one to ask the opponent his opinion, and then go with the opposite view 😉

Given that (unless I'm mistaken) the effects of RG are a subset of the effects of BG, I think an element on all of GG, RG and BG would still count as in BG; it's (partially) in BG, and so qualifies for BG combat modifiers and BG combat results on the table (in addition to the reduced movement and "not in GG" combat results that would apply in RG).

The element is in both RGo and DGo. And unless I have missed something, that works fine, no contradictions (as Vic writes)
Did you have a specific rule in mind Paddy?
