I’d be inclined to make them Bd but with a -1 modifier. Wb radically different capabilities in v3.

The best classification of Viking for this campaign is Bd(F). Also, Vikings were rarely a unified command. Here is how I represent armies of this time... Vikings... 1x 4Bd Gen. 4x 3Bd Viking Raiders 1x Ps Viking Skirmishers
Allied Viking Command... 1x 4Bd 2x 3Bd
Allied Command... (either as above or...) 1x 4Bd Huscarles 2x Sp English Rebels
This fighting against a traditional Anglo-Danish army gives a very good game.

The Campaign has finished. The final winners being the Normans. I intend to replay the campaign as the shield walls of the Saxons and Vikings did not feel or play right. I am toying with re playing using "To the Strongest" Rules.

Also none of my photos look good. Combination of poor lighting and gormless photographer me thinks!

O.k., this campaign is long gone by now, but the problem remains: those DBA 3.0 vikings are always too strong!
The main reason why the normans lost the historical battle at Stamford bridge is: they had been marching for so long and were utterly tired.
Therefore in the scenario gameplay we might at least try to even things up by modifying their PIP rolls (-1) or even by altering their combat factors in the same way.

I think that you might be confusing your battles. Stamford Bridge was fought between the Vikings of Harold Haradda and the Anglo-Saxons of Harold Godwinson with an Anglo-Saxons victory despite the long march to York. Cheers,
