Just watching the second episode of the Sky Atlantic Chernobyl series. I knew a little about what happened and the amazing sacrifices people made but it is an fantastic program.

Good to hear.
Last week, I read a review of this show on the BBC site, and the reviewer really had good things to say about it.

I lived in Birmingham U.K. and worked the other side of the city.
If I missed my last bus (11.35PM I think) I had to walk 5 miles to get home, you would occasionally get sent down a different road because they were checking for contamination from Chernobyl.
But we were lucky.

I visited the Chernobyl museum in Kiev, Ukraine about 15 years ago now. It is one of those places like Auschwitz where even if you don’t know what happened the vibe is so unmistakably strong that you couldn’t miss it. Absolutely chilling stories about the impact on the population and the selfless heroism of the brave individuals who sacrificed themselves to prevent further radiation leakage. Only Russians have that tragic, stubborn stowicism.
