Finally got the 6mm EAP back on the go. I got a hankering to get some Macedonian / Seleucid pike on the table next.
Alexander's forces are really fantastic in DBA right?

Painting a Post-Three Kingdoms Chinese army atm. Who would've guessed that COVID-19 would affect my eyesight.

Started detailing the Iqshidid infantry this afternoon. Painting folds on the turbans is no longer a chore and all 18 elements should be done by tomorrow. On the weekend I can start painting the 10 elements of cavalry and LH.

Started detailing the Iqshidid infantry this afternoon. I'll look forward to seeing pics of your "Iqshididididids" (as DK would call them) when they're up, Robert. Were you as disappointed as I at the changes in Purple with the Iqshidid list? (Disclaimer: I like about 95% of the changes.) A more accurate reflection of how this army functioned historically, perhaps, but this army (and my Hussites) may never go into the Dunk Tank™ for Purple renovation. I'll likely just continue to use them as-is.

A more accurate reflection of how this army functioned historically, perhaps, but this army (and my Hussites) may never go into the Dunk Tank™ for Purple renovation. I'll likely just continue to use them as-is. While consolidating the collection from 10 standard size to 4 double size Muslim armies with options I did note the progressive changes to the army lists from DBM to DBA 2.2 and 3.0. Significantly, the Abbasid, Iqshidid, Dynastic Bedouin and Fatamid which became my final four had their archers reduced from 8Bw to 4Bw. That was a good change, but the Iqshidid lost their Armenian cavalry (3Kn) and Sudanese guard (3Bd).
We focus on historical encounters so DBM is a good reference for noting dates when options listed in 3.0 could be employed. Of interest, “Sowing the Dragon’s Teeth” by McGeer references a number of cavalry battles fought between the Nikephorian and the Emir of Aleppo. That would be nice.

I squeezed in some painting on Friday at work and then finished it off that evening. The result was the completion of the Beja General (Cv).
Plans to do more over the weekend were thwarted when 'Conspiracy to Commit Gardening' became 'Gardening Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm' when my delicate programmer's hands were scratched an blistered by the moving of roses from the home of Wf(X)'s aunt to the back garden at Chateau Attwood.
I did manage to swing by Olympian Games and pick up some more 40x20 bases - my own minor Panic Buying frenzy as I cleared Dean out of the 18 bases he had on the shelves. I have now been able to bag up all the bases needed for the Beja and East Frankish projects.
I am ready for a lockdown - at least in wargaming and reading terms
cheers

Seems like a bit of a claytons lockdown.
I was thinking things had gone up a notch last night, but if the hairdressers are still open how serious can it be?

Seems like a bit of a claytons lockdown. I was thinking things had gone up a notch last night, but if the hairdressers are still open how serious can it be? Covid 19 is very serious. Here is an excellent overview presented by Dr. John Campbell on how the virus works and how other countries have handled the situation. I am glad we did not dither too long in this country to take action. www.youtube.com/channel/UCF9IOB2TExg3QIBupFtBDxg

Have had some Essex EGA-2 Sarmatian Heavy Cavalry languishing in the queue for ages, so having gotten a couple of more from Mikes Sanderson, I moved them up. I also changed the mix from 12 with unarmored and 12 with half-armored horses to 18 on unarmored and 9 on fully armored horses. Per the references the Sarmatians didn't use half-armor on their horses (sorry TTG, I like the figures and will paint up those I do have, but wrong horse armor...).
The armor on the Essex figures is apropos that given in 'Armies and Enemies of Imperial Rome' for the Bosporan branch, so down the road these elements will probably become the core of a later Bosporan BBDBA army. The Purple army list states that Bosporan heavies didn't employ bows or use horse armor, but the Osprey and another reference on the Sarmatians says they did...
At any rate 9 elements of Sarmatian KN painted and glued to bases.
Along with an OG15 command element - another 5 elements of OG15 Sarmatian KN awaiting the drilling out of their hands for kontos and the gluing in of same. Three more elements in the queue.
