Last Sunday finished painting and glued to bases a pair each Essex Spanish javelin and slingers for 2 elements of PS for a III/35c Feudal Spanish army.
Last night it was an element of Irregular's HR-37 KN bringing me up to the 4 needed.
SP and LH are in the queue. Need to decide on figures for the caballeros villanos or else dig out another pair of jinetes.
Also an element of Asgard/VF MR-03 Burgundian CB for the Early Burgundians.

Two elements of MID-85 Spanish Spearmen painted and glued to bases for the Feudal Spanish. A bit early with the tasseled rounds for the 'c' list, but I read that the tasseled round never went completely out of style in Spain.
And 3 elements of Minifig Z-70 Armenian Javelinmen to replace the Sassanids that I was using to fill out the roster for the BBDBA Early Armenian army. Both figures being based on the Armies of the Dark Ages depiction of an Armenian javelinman (based on a Sassanid Persian relief...). The Armenian list in Purple states that they were thureophoroi so down the road the Minifig Armenian 3AX elements will jump up to a Rshtuni army and be replaced with Freikorp figures I purchased.

Painted and glued to bases 3 PS elements of TTG/Alternative Armies S-1 Sarmatian archers. With these and (for now) using a mix of OG15. Museum, and TTG Sarmatian cavalry I can now field a II/28 Sarmatian army. I have some Alan lights in the queue that will be used to provide the LH element.
I have some additional Essex and Minifig Early Armenian figures after building my Early Armenians and so am continuing on with the later Armenians. Particularly in view of the fact that both lines are based on the drawings in the Armies and Enemies of Rome. In this the cataphract drawing was noted as being based on a much later depiction of Armenian cavalry. Presumably from that used in Armies of the Dark Ages which was based on a c. 920 depiction of David and Goliath (presumably Goliath...) and therefore actually from the Bagratid Kingdom.
The Minifigs cataphract has a shield which is a bit smaller (they have a later Armenian heavy cavalryman which has a larger shield), but should still work for both Rshtuni and Bagratid periods. The Essex is without a shield, but that can be remedied (amusingly Essex does not use this figure in any of their Armenenian DBA 3 army packs).
At any rate, finished painting and glued to bases 3 elements of the ZC-41 Armenian Cataphracts. I put 2 elements of these on half armored horses and 1 on unarmored horses. The bases are steel, so for the 6CV I should be able to double up two pairs (I have another element of the Z-41s already base as 3KN for the 'c' list that I can snag for the second pair). For the command element for the Rshtuni at this time I'll just 'borrow' one of the Essex 3KN until I get some more figures painted (or until I decide whether I want to break up and rebase the Minifig 4KN element from the Early Armenians).

Still waiting for the rest of my Alans to arrive. In the meantime, I paint my Samurai (Post Mongol, late 15th, early 16th cent.) Not overly enjoying it, but I want that army.

3 ART elements for the Later Book IV pool painted and glued to bases - Alternative's MEG-1 Bombard set and 2 crew. Nice model.
Bombards are nice - single piece model so no parts to glue/epoxy...

Another 3 elements of Armenian PS painted and on bases for the Early or Rshtuni armies.
Minifig Z-71 Armenian Archers with the cap - Phil Barker in Armies and Enemies of Imperial Rome is unsure as to whether the cap was still worn, but the sculptors for the Minifig archers and horse archers and the Essex horse archers added them to their sculpts so they create a point of differencing with other foot and horse archers in tunic and trousers. Besides, my guys are conservative and may still be wearing them into Bagratid times - unless they have decided to adopt a more Byzantine look...

Lovely. All banners (14x) have been painted and fixed to their poles. Two commands of Nikephorian/Konstantinian Byzantine are ready for battle this coming week.

Love those Alternative Armies figures, especially the Medievals! Nowt fancy....I won’t spoil the surprise, but it’s ‘dark ages’ / early medieval. Best prize on the day will be a donation by Mr Hittite Painting Services, to a far higher quality 😊
