a solid blade is in regular close combat against another solid blade. lets call these two red1 and blue1. parallel to them, but one space away is a second battle with exactly the same constellation. a solid blade against another. lets call these guys red2 and blue2. in the aforementioned space between these two events the red player has a third solid-blade element (red3) without a direct oppenent in front of him. it is his turn so he can "close the door" on any of the two battles. he chooses to intervene in the first one and as a consequence now red3 has its front-side in contact with the side of blue1.
the combat outcome is a draw. for both battles. the one involving red1+blue1+red3 and the other one red2+blue2. in the rulebook i read that this has "no effect" on solid-foot.
here are two questions:
1) if all elements stay in place it is now blue-players turn. to help the situation he moves a psiloi (blue3) to confront red3 which is the main problem for him. but he is unable to reach him. what he managed to do is move so close that at least red3 is now threatened. (in the threatzone of the psiloi (blue3).
as i understand the rules this did not help the blue-player. the door-closer (red3) ist threatend, but since he (red3) is already engangend in closecombat and cannot move anyway because it is not his turn the next round of combat dice will be thrown, again with red3 as a flanking unit against blue1.
is this correct?
2) i may be wrong on this but somehow i think i remember a answer here or on the old forums which said that "door-closer-units" (for the lack of a better description) are always moved away from a battle in which the target managed to survive no matter what. basically making it impossible that rounds end with any unit in such a position.
the problem with this would be that if i retreat red3 half a basewide after a draw it would end in that red 3 has its back in contact with blue2s side which seems a weird postion. and if i "conform" and turn red3 180° before ending the round it would be a invalid position again.
if this is true where in the rulebook is that section?
