Had a ball with the lads at Con Quest today.
4 of us:
Rus
Early Crusader
Post Mongol Samurai
Later Carthaginian a) (me!)
I took 3x4Ax and 2xEl every time, although we had the option to change options every game based on who we were fighting.
First 3.0 Tournament. Great guys, and fun games.
Rus: A line of Spear punched a hole in the middle of my line and killed both my Els!! Noooo! Rolling a zillion 1s for PIPs and combat did not help however. A great intro game.
Early Crusader: I won this one, but really only because my opponent forgot that Els quick kill Knights. My Els used the 1 5 PIP roll that I made to move laterally and then crash into the Knights, killing both of them, and the armies general. Finished it with an El doing a flanking move on a final unit of Cav. We played a 2nd game whilst waiting, and I tried out Littoral, which is WAY harder than we think it is to pull off. I also need to review the rules for Camps. When a unit of 4Sp guarding the camp
Post Mongol Samurai: A very close game. The elephants did a great job, and my LH sacrificed himself moving up to distract 3 elements. Alas, I then rolled 1 PIP so I couldn't take advantage of the distraction and the LH was gunned down by his Fast Bows. However lots of moving, and if I do say so myself, great use of Ps to prevent my line from getting too many overlaps. Some decent/lucky rolling on my part, and I was able to eek out a win 4-3. Bows are DANGEROUS to Cav. Pro Tip.
Will definitely take the El next time, but will probably bring 2x4Wb next time, as I see the weakness of 3x4Ax and 2x2Ps.
Will post to my blog with photos

As I said, great time, fun con. Can't wait for another chance to game.
