Wintersong – CRWG DBA Campaign for 2019
On Sunday 10th February we started this year’s DBA Campaign at the Canberra Region Wargames Group. The setting is the Baltic Crusades in 1250AD. The starting line up was:
The Ordenstadt of the Teutonic Order – Richard Sisson – Black – IV/30 Teutonic Orders.
Prussia – David Lawrence – Dark Green – IV/28 Prussian
The Principality of Lithuania – Light Blue – Jon Willacy – IV/18 Lithuanian or Samagotian

The Kindom of Sweden – Dark Blue – Tony Cotton – IV/54d Medieval Scandinavian (Other)
The Duchy of Pomerania – Yellow – Bruce Tobin – IV/13a Medieval German
The last two countries (Sweden and Germany) did not enter the campaign until after the start of the first year so took only limited action.
The Starting Territories were
1250
Winter
The Ordenstadt invades Prussia. The battle of Traki is close fought with the Prussians luring the Order’s brethren into an ambush. However when the Prussian commander is cut down the defenders fall apart and are driven from the field.
Lithuania attacks Poland. The battle of Lukow is a convincing victory for the Poles, who are supported by the Pomeranians. The invaders suffer significant losses but inflict some casualties on both the Poles and the Germans.
Novgorod invades Lithuania and lays siege to Mogilev. The city refuses to yield.
Poland swoops on the battered Prussians and takes Grodno by storm as the Prussian army falls back to Lida.
Spring
The Ordenstadt continues its offensive into Prussia besieging the Prussians in their capital Lida. The besiegers are beaten back.
Novgorod continues its siege of Mogilev. The city is taken.
Summer
The Teutonic Order continues its siege of Lida in the face of heroic resistance from the Prussians. Their assaults are all beaten back.
Novgorod moves the Lithuanian city of Vilna but fails to take it.

Spring
The Polish siege of Mogilev continues but the city continues to heroically resist.
Prussia rises up and tries to retake Traki from the Teutonic Order. The citizen/colonist throw back the wild assaults.
