It will be neat to see what other people use, that's for sure.
I use BBQ skewers and notch off the BW lengths with a marker.
The cardboard ones with chess pieces attached, I copied from watching Tony Aguilar's videos, and they make great element markers, so I do not lose where the real element is, when I move it around before finalizing any moves.

I have cannibalised a six inch wooden ruler by shading alternate 40mm sections with a magic marker. I have also used Tony's idea of a base with a little figure glued to it to check for Threat Zone.
Does anyone make professional measuring sticks?

Reminded me of the chap who replaced my fence. He came along, measured it and when he returned to fit the fence found he was 6 cmm to short. HE WAS A RIGHT TOOL!!

My grandfather taught me that, he had started as an apprentice in a carriage making company (horse drawn type), ended up making bodies for Rolls Royce cars.

I use knitting needles cut to 1,2,3,4 and 5 Base widths. Or in inches for HOTT, just need to remember to use the right set for the right rules!
You also have to remember to measure to where the edge of the blade is going to cut, not the blade itself, otherwise you end up slightly short.
Only have 1 base marker, 20mm by 40mm made from plywood with a cocktail stick handle drilled and glued into it, then textured the base.

My Father taught me the same! I read somewhere that Rolls Royce used Carriage Makers for their car bodies especially the earlier models. That's really interesting!

Nangwya what's the point of those measuring sticks??? I use skewers as well, but in their natural, un-emasculated state - you never know when a piece of marinated meat or a mushroom or slice of pepper could ambush your forces requiring a pointed response... For mine (picture later when camera is working?) I use marker or paint to mark the BW (previously inch) increments. As for professionally made products, there is PRECISION WARGAMES SUPPLIES LTD in metal - storage.proboards.com/forum/images/defaultavatar.pngor Litko plastic - litko.net/search?type=product&q=dbaor Products for Wargamers in metal - productsforwargamers.com/product-category/measuring-sticks/And others that I don't have quick links to. A number of the online retailers carry them. Hey Goragrad, your first link is rather interesting, but not sure how precise it is to the site you wanted

I'm struggling to get pictures on the site at the moment but I buy my bases from Back-2-Basix in Adelaide. You can buy just one of most things. I just added one of various appropriate lengths (1BW to 7BW)x 10mm width to an order of bases then painted each BW a different colour. Markers done!
Cheers

Litko makes commercial measuring tools - I've got their 25mm version.
But I mainly use rules marked off in 5 60mm segments. The rule = Artillery range. Very useful to have long ranges in terms of "sticks" (i.e. a ruler).
