It is clear that Psiloi are destroyed when in close combat with bows. And they ie the Psiloi are doubled.
Is this also the case when shot at. The wording goes at the bottom of page 11 ‘or if in close combat against Auxilia, Bows or Psiloi.’
Does not say anything about bows shooting.
Thanks
Peter

It is really a simple game. :-) Phil always says, “the rules say what they mean, and mean what they say. “. Just believe what’s written.
"Destroyed by Knights, Cavalry, Camelry or Light Horse if in going the enemy count as good, or if in close combat against Auxilia, Bows or Psiloi. Recoil from Elephants or Scythed Chariots. If not, flee."
Bows shoot at Ps. so the Ps are not in close combat against the Bows. Rather than give all the details, Phil lets you assume The alternative. If not in close combat, Then the doubleing must be caused by shooting. If doubled by shooting, then the option is flee. If not close combat then flee.

Great, think the wording threw me for BW v LH that I had raised at an event before. LH are destroyed by BW when doubled both when in close combat and when shot at.

It has to do with Phil's odd habit of stating the exceptions before the Rule.
If Doubled in Combat Ps Flee instead of being Destroyed, except: (1) they are Destroyed if Doubled by Mounted (except El & Scythed Chariots) in going the Mounted count as Good; (2) they are Destroyed if Doubled by Bows, Aux, Ps in Close Combat; (3) they are Recoiled if Doubled by Elephants and SCh.
