If you were running a tournament and I showed up with this as my encampment, would you allow it? web.ncf.ca/ex809/camp-1.jpgweb.ncf.ca/ex809/camp-2.jpgI know it looks fort-like and doesn't seem to be a temporary structure, but I have seen some far more elaborate camps that people have made. Just curious, thanks.

It would be very welcome at the Bakewell Tournaments I run! I assume it is within the legal size.

Wow, that looks great! Mind sharing how you built it? I'm looking to make a fort/BUA and this is exactly what I had pictured!

It looks like a Roman marching fort to me. I have some of these made with barbecue skewers.

Roman temporary camps looked pretty permanent. I read somewhere that the modern mind is unable to comprehend how much earth 40,000 men with shovels can shift in an hour or so! Scott

Phew, thanks! Yes, legal size. It is based on the orc palisade camp that another member posted of someone's amazing collection of camps that person has made: legacydirs.umiacs.umd.edu/~kuijt/dbaCamps/camps.htmlScroll down and you will see the person's orc palisade camp. I had originally had the skewers done with a wash, but only after I had glued them to a cardboard base, and after the wash dried, the cardboard warped a bit and many of the skewers separated from each other. I ended up having to krazy glue many of them, resulting in glaring shiny spots, so I just painted the whole thing a darkish brown. So in future, I will either ensure the cardboard base cannot warp, by using non-stretchy packing tape on the underside (thanks Terrain Tutor on youtube!), or use a wood base. The washed skewers looked so much better. I did just what Bob has used... BBQ skewers and just used an X-acto knife to widdle the tops. The platform that the archers are on is just some popsicle sticks cut to size. The ladder is from a 1/72 Battlefield accessory set, but the guy who did the Orc palisade camp made his ladder from scratch, and it looks great! Cheers everyone!

I found my example, along with other camps I have done.

Just curious, thanks. In geological terms all structures are temporary. You might argue that someone using Egyptian Pyramids is pushing it because those things seem to be going nowhere, but as fare as I am concerned any model building that fits the size restrictions is fair to use. It is temporary, in that at some stage it will fall down cheers

I like your reasoning Macbeth.
I guess as long as it is representative of a generic camp or the culture of the army being used and legal size, it is OK to use?

Just make sure your opponent(s) know it is a camp and not a fort beforehand. That should make it clear, unless you are playing an ogre or troll!

Macbeth, don't forget that now a Pyramid as an Edifice, if positioned as appropriate and the size of a camp, can be declared and used as a camp.

Looks good, I picked up a rattan blind from a car boot for 50p and have enough to do loads of forts. I often pick up stuff cos it looks like it will make good terrain etc.
Idea was to do a full fort for a Hail Caesar attack but first length actually got used to reinforce my Ancient British camp, we will stick it to those Romans eventually.
