When an element pursues into an enemy line when it has forced the opposing element to recoil, and ends in rear corner to rear corner contact with enemy element to both sides. Does this count in effect as a mutual overlap?
Ie does a rear corner count as a flank?
Thanks
Peter

I have never considered a corner to be an edge. For overlap, contact needs to be Side edge to Side edge.

Bob is of course correct. The bit you should refer to Phippsy is on page 10 paragraph 8, “Overlaps”:- “An element not in frontal close combat but in mutual right-to-right or left-to-left front corner contact with an enemy (except Ps and SCh) overlaps this. Any enemies in mutual flank-edge contact overlap each other.” Rear-corner to rear-corner is neither front corner contact nor side-edge contact. Some potentially useful player aids can be found here, such as the “Quick Reference Sheets” from the Society of Ancients, and the new “Army List Corrections” file: fanaticus-dba.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Reference_sheets_and_epitomes And this is the latest January 2018 FAQ: fanaticus-dba.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ_2018

I'm with Bob and Stevie. Actually, I have never seen anyone claim that a rear corner would count as an overlap.

Bit of playtest history: Due to an oddity of basing a pursing Knight in 25mm would not stay in contact with the side edge of an opponent (though would stay in corner-corner) contact. This led to a cry to allow corner-corner overlaps which was in the playtest version for a while.
The solution is to extend 25mm Mounted basing (which Phil grudgingly allowed out to 45mm but which all free thinking 25mm players allow out to 60mm for Mounted). By the way all Perry Brother boxed sets of mounted come with 60X45mm bases (wonder how that happened...)
Not all 25mm players are free thinkers however and cling to the 40mm depth for mounted (and hence broken or chipped horse tails) due to prior basing. They still advocate very strongly for the corner-corner overlap (see an earlier thread).
If you meet a base nazi about the expanded depth just tell them you play D3H2 which officially endorsers the deeper Mounted bases.
