Newline Sumerians.
Newline Hittites. Nice figures and I like the bases. Think I'll do something similar with mine.

Hopefully these pictures will now load. As anyone who has clicked on the earlier link will know, these are my newly-painted Guti. Still trying to get up the nerve to do the bases! Those look like Newline figures. I have a few of those :~) Everyone has their own preference for basing, for those Biblical type figures I like a nice coarse sand. I tend to drop it on over PVA, let it dry and then paint with beige brown, highlight with Iraqi sand and then add a few tufts. I'll see if I can find a few pics so you can see.
They are indeed Newline. I like the poses and the price! I'm also finishing some Picts, so I have two different methods to learn. I'm thinking of using a similar method to you for the Mesopotamian stuff (I've also got an Early Sumerian in the pipeline). I might use roughly the same method for the Picts, but using green rather than Iraqi Sand and then some flock followed by tufts. But then again I might not!

Okay sorry, I thought I had to delete post individually but I have found a quick way to delete all the spam posts and have done so. My apologies to everyone. No need to apologise. Living with spam is one of the downfalls of being online. The fact that you dealt with it quickly is all that matters. I opened my own website in 2011. Since then it has been attacked by - wait for it - 68,169 spammers! That's over 13,000 every year!! The odd one has got through and needed to be dealt with. You sorted it out. No problem!

As you might have noticed, the site has been hacked. I'm no webmaster, so this might not be correct, but I wouldn't click on the hacked link, as somehow this seems to allow the hacker to use your account.

At the moment I'm trying to finish a 25mm Pictish army, having just finished the figures for a 28mm Gutian. At some point I've got to bite the bullet and make a decision on how I'm going to finish the bases!

I’ve always followed the old Scruby 3 foot rule – if you hold the miniature out at 3 feet and can see a detail paint it – if not don’t worry about it. I always followed that rule myself in the past, but I must admit that some highlighting adds to the figure, even if only adding a little white to the 'base' colour and flicking it over the raised bits. The new style can seem very 'caricaturish' from what I have seen so far and I don't think I like it. I'm grateful that it's not just me that prefers the 'old' style! The question is, what is it about the style that makes people like it? (This is an honest question: I could be open to conversion).

Hi all.
I've just started painting 15mm and 25/28mm figures again after many years and have noticed from researching pictures on the internet that styles seem to have changed. Is the use of heavy 'lining' and exaggerated highlighting common now, or is it just the fashion that is prevalent amongst 'professional' painters at the moment?

I'm building 2mm DBA armies at the moment, and with intelligent basing they become pretty easy to identify. At some point I should probably do a review of some of the Irregular Miniatures 2mm range ... I think that part of the appeal is the scale of the terrain, but also the resin buildings now available. www.brigademodels.co.uk/SmallScaleScenery/Roman%20Buildings.html Bring a new dimension to the tabletop!
