Hi all
As usual I have a dumb request for information. Going through my metal mountain, I've found some old (old? Ancient!) Minifigs Napoleonics. The codes on the packs are: 1SW, 6SW and 9SW.
Been on their website and they now sell Matchlock 15mm, which use completely different codes. Does anyone know what figures had these codes?
Cheers
Ian

‘Truisms’ of DBA. 1. Poor pip scores for movement are generally a sign that die casts for combat will be better. 2. Conversely, high pip scores will not be duplicated when needed for close combat that bound. 3. Changing the die for another during the game will invariably have the same results. 4. Never ask an opponent to roll first as that most likely will have a demoralising effect. When confronted with multiple combats during a bound. 5. Players that deliberate long and hard about which to do first, generally fail the first combat. 6. Likewise, players saving the most critical for last generally also fail that combat. Wholly agree with this. My heart always sinks when my opponent's rolls for movement are bad ....

Tony - thanks - excellent as ever. Thanks. One of the really nice things about your videos (please don't stop) it that it lets you see many other armies in action. I own relatively few armies and certainly no Early Armenian, Pergamene or Kappadokian.....so it was really good to see them in action and then look at where figures may be sourced from etc. I do like the Xyston Kappadokians.....Hmmmm. I would not be that bothered about rule questions when they arise. I learn far more about DBA 3.0 from playing other people and learning how they play. Your videos are another way of learning and playing the game vicariously. So as long as it is pleasant, constructive and friendly I think it helps. So please keep them coming! Paddy Got to agree here. Your videos are helping me to keep focused on painting figures and I am learning a lot from watching. Keep up the good work!

I've finally managed to finish the Dacian army I have been putting off for years. The pictures don't include the sweat and frustration!!

Well, I thought I'd carry on the theme of fastest/slowest with this.
Which of all of the armies in DBA3 is the hardest? Not necessarily time consuming, but the one with the greatest difficulty to get right?
At present, mine has been the Dacians. Those bleeding shield patterns. Once I've sorted the bases out, I'll post a photo.

Nice painting Paul - I hate you with a passion you can only imagine!! The question is, how much to post them to the UK? Or is there a UK distributor? Suppose an email is in order ..... I'd be interested in getting those, plus the Hawaiians and Aztecs to face them.

I've been digging around the depths of DBA 3 and have decided there are three (almost) definitive reasons for non- use. 1) The armies - and their opponents - are almost exactly the same and so they arouse little or no interest in gamers. 2) Due to the apparent lack of interest, manufacturers are unwilling to put in the time to research and then produce the figures needed. 3) With no figures, the (few?) who are interested don't have access to the figures they need.
A case in point. I've always been a little interested in Aztec/Inca/South American armies. When I looked at the list I was intrigued by the North-Western Americans (IV/11): an interesting combination of Bd, Bw and Ps. When I then saw it could have Hawaiians and Aztecs as enemies, I became even more interested.
What figures could be used, and in which scale? Quick Google search: nothing! Is this why I have never seen them?

The older 25mm figures by manufacturers such as Hinchliffe, Essex, and 'Minifigs'do look a little 'naive' when compared to those by makers using more technical equipment and more up-to-date information. I still prefer them, as well as other similar styles of figures, as with a little detailed painting they still can come out great, and I feel can have a better look when used en mass.
I agree that one of the reasons for armies not being used is the lack of suitable figures, but is there also a case for many of them simply being not used as they are 'boring'? Endless repetitions of '4Bw' or '3/4Wb' ...

I've got thousands of 25mm figures, bought for WRG 6th many years ago. I'm now converting them to DBA 3: it makes painting the lead mountain a more attractive prospect. Plus I actually like the naivety of some of the 'early' figures (based on the 'Armies of ...' series by WRG). However I know of nobody else who has any.

Over the past few years I've been reading posts about painted armies, people painting armies for specific campaigns, or painting just because of interest. I'm stunned by the different periods and regions which people are interested in, from Western Europe to the Far East. I've even played against people with armies from the Pacific region - Hawaiian anyone?
Is there any way we can find out if there is an army which not one person is interested in fielding?

That punishment would be rather lenient...why not give him a Sunderland AFC season ticket or would that be considered too harsh?😁 Not harsh enough! Give them a Blackburn Rovers season ticket and FORCE THEM TO WATCH!!
