A horrible error. First, the events are Friday morning and Saturday morning as you surmised. Both events are 15mm. Events usually last 3 rounds or a bit more than 3 hours. I will bring Byzantine army loaners. BUT, if there is more interest in playing an open event on Saturday and everyone is ok with it then we can have a second open. We can also have a THIRD event any evening if players wish.

1. I'd love to make the NICT a double slot event; and make it a double elimination tournament. Play until you lose two games. I would also change NICT to NCT. Invite everyone. Yeah NCAA basketball tournament, boo Bowl Game system.
2. My 'battles of Byzantium' could fit up to 14 players doing 7 games each. That would take two slots leaving an hour for lunch. It scales down to 5 games for 10 players, but that is still almost two slots. I would not be offended if people did NOT want to devote a full day to such an event. I will do it if Tony and Tom think it will sell.
3. I have built 3 nasty armies for 25mm! I'm love to play that.
4. Midnight Madness??? How late are the gendarmes willing to leave the building open?
5. 4 straight days-I'm willing to play nothing but DBA at Historicon. Maybe I'll win something!
Best wishes,
Mike

In the good old days, it was 50-50 to put out terrain. IMO this led to players in open tournaments going for armies with maximum combat factor strength above all else. Just too risky to bring auxillia or warband when there is a 50-50 chance you will play on a billiard table against enemies with knights or elephants. Vikings and Indians could function well in both environments. Vikings because blades are still a '3' against foot in bad going and Indians because longbows still shoot well in bad going/ and they had knights and elephants as well.
Under the aggression or invasion/maneuver rating systems a player in an open tournament might choose an unbalanced army, like all light horse; but only if they have a rating that will allow them a good chance to place terrain. Most USA tournaments are only 3 rounds; so an army with a low aggression has a reasonable chance of placing terrain in 3 straight games, or losing horribly if they get the wrong terrain.
And all this goes out the window if the tournament is fought on 30 inch boards instead of 24 inch boards. Truth, it happened to a very nice Canadian player using Gauls at Historicon last year. He could not build a 'terrain highway' for his warbands into the enemy deployment zone, ( a good tactic) because the board was just too big.
My first instinct would be to do away with the aggression or invasion/maneuver systems and substitute some sort of alternating terrain placement system.
I preferred the old dice roll to determine where the attacker shows up. I also think that there should be more smaller pieces of terrain rather than the really big pieces one can have now. But I'm not about to write my own set of rules.......

I discussed running a duplicate event with 7 games and 14 players. That could fill up the Thursday afternoon and Thursday night spots. Tony, email me off list for further discussion.

My Swiss wish they could use average dice. Bows, triple shooting at blades get a 2-2.With regular dice the despicable bows kill the Swiss with 6-2, 6-1 and 5-1. ALL of those results disappear with average dice, and I get to play SAW with the longbowmen. Have to be careful what you wish for as far as play balance goes.

EVEN BETTER NEWS is that there will be two DBA tournaments at HMGS East Cold Wars in the middle of March in sunny Lancaster PA! If enough people show up we can have 3or 4 tournaments on the spot. Fewer 40k players than at Adepticon!

Don't worry about Byzantines. I used that theme because I have all the armies. I'll bring them up. I just hope some more people will show up and play.

Submitted two events to Dan. One for Friday and one for Saturday at 930 Am. The Friday event is a classic open event, bring your 5 elephant armies, your double based Swiss, your dismounting Tibetans; rules as written, whatever you want.
Saturday also at 930 AM, if anyone shows up, we'll do an Early Byzantine theme event. All armies are either Count Belisarius, early Byzantine, or ENEMIES thereof. No one else, No Qaramita, no Indians, no HYW English.
Each event could be three rounds.
Qualify for the Nationals!
Avoid the French Disease!
And you can still play Trxxxxh later each day. I will, and I won't feel guilty about it.
Please post here if you think you can come. I can loan armies if you contact me in time. I'll bring a bunch of Byzantine guys.

Today is the last day of the PEL.
I will host a DBA event on Friday or Saturday during the day if there are 5 or 6 players interested in a DBA event, probably just an open at this HMGS east event in Lancaster PA.
There will be no conflict with Washington Grand Company events in that time slot, although there will be a lot of ADLG gaming on going.
Let me know if you will be there!

OK, expanding my search to find more players. So far I've met ONE player in Maryland. I am grateful. Maybe there are somegamers in York or Lancaster or even Philadelphia?

His figures are first rate, detail, shields, shading. Price is very reasonable for work of this level. I snagged 4 armies from him so far. He will also paint to order if you need to expand for BBDBA or Art de la Guerre.
I have never had any trouble with any order from him unlike Old Guard Painters.
His ebay score is excellent.
Very nice guy.
Use short sentences. His English is getting more fluent,. He may also be using a translator program.
