My copy is as per the one shown on the Blackhat website. There is also something in the intro pages about him updating the rules. I am pretty sure the Blackhat one is the latest.

I have had another look. They are dated 2007 at the front page inside the book. Also they have a +1 for each round of following up in a melee AND +1 for initiating combat in first round only. Hope this helps.

Stevie,
Just been reading about the use of offset squares/rectangles - apparently minimises sistortion. have you considered that approach?

Needless to say fab day out. Some great armies, I also took a force. Show was decent as well. Agree absolutely Baldie. Thanks to Tim Kohler for arranging. Eight players in total so a good turnout! And well done to the Johnson brothers for taking first and second places. Simon

... and Bob Cordery's Portable Wargame and various games in Wargames Development Nugget journal around the Red Square rules. Also really like the Peter Pig Square Bashing game for WW1!
I have to add that in running qite a few DBA tournaments, I have never witnessed any arguments over movement or seen micro-measurement detracting from a game.

For DBA 3.0, don't think you can align by rear edge only, while still being part of the same group. Although Phil seemed to write it that way on page 8 of the hardbound 3.0 version in front of me, the "clarification" on page 16 of the diagrams says ". . . or side edge contact and front corner to front corner contact." Note the term "front corner".
I disagree....I believe side edge and either front or rear corner contact permits elements to constitute a group. Agree with Martin. The rules say "in edge and corner to corner contact." Doesn't say which corner! Simon
