and yes this new home rule is very interesting! It bring some "war realism" pressure to the poor general, and makes important orders first, changing completly the tactical thing! a nice addition (and i'll have some difficulties to return back to the normal rules after that! i also like the cup-like rolling dice, it's less noisy and bring some more suspense to the combat results (and no more "wrong dice" or dice-breaking figs syndrom )

er... sorry but no it's not a beta version, you must handle table top simulator moves a bit, that's true. i think you didn't find all these tools, and you tried to position units "by hand" that is very dificult i must admit. it's why we add magnetic things for base, it's aligned automatically, the moves are easier too (just add the distance you want... and lot more things like shooting template, moving template...) lot of helpers and additional menu done exactly to help player to handle 3d things (not natural on a 2d screen) i assure you that it's quite near of the real game after a little training of course, (but it's not a videogame, it's a DBA game with some scripts to help moves that's all) i'll be available to play a little last week of july, if you want some demo... btw to be honest, when it's possible, i still prefer to play in real! (no virtual beer ! ) but it's just another tool to be able to play DBA with friends who cannot be at your home or club so, i played lot of games like that and i can assure you that it's working not so bad (not perfect, because the limitation of table top simulator but...)

er yes but you don't answer to my question! sorry, but i found very smart the idea of chits in the bag, so it's why i try it and found a potential problem : let's try to reformulate : after the first bound, if the player want to do a 2 pips order at the begining of his bound, you said you must drawn 2 chits for 2 pips order type, but, let's say it's 2 green chits, so the move is ok, in that case it let only 3 green and 1 red in the bag, so, no way to have the maximum orders. in the normal game you burn 2 pips, so you can have virtually a mximum of 4 more left. as in the begining of the bound the 1 pip is free, so you need only one more to be able to do a 2 pips move. if at the begining of your bound you drawn 2 chits, it's like you burn 3 pips (the free one + 2 more) it's why i said that in that particular case, you must only drawn 1 chits and not 2, after, you right, you drawn 2 chits for a 2 pips type move.

An alternative, more suitable for solo games (and for those with sensitive hearing!), is to have 6 plastic/cardboard ‘chits’ in a bag, 5 of them green and 1 red, drawn one-at-a-time:- * Players announce the move they wish to make (indicating that an order has been dispatched)… * The first PIP each bound is free, and no 'chit' is drawn. Other subsequent orders requires the drawing of 'chits'... * A green 'chit' gives 1 PIP and more 'chits' may still be drawn (showing the order has been received and acted upon)... * A red 'chit' gives no PIP and no more draws (showing that the order didn't arrive, and must have got lost in the post!)... * To make a 2 PIP move, two ‘chits’ will need to be drawn, one-at-a-time, neither of them being red… * Drawn ‘chits’ only go back in the bag if a red is drawn, or if the player has finished moving… (The defending player rolls an extra 'Weather Dice' before their first bound. er... what if the player want to have a 2 pips order at the first move? as he's got at last one pips, and he needs 2, does he still need to drawn 2 chits? and if yes, it let 1 red and 3 green chits in the bag, so if i'm right, no way to get 6 orders? (i mean if the first drawn is ok (2 green chits), he wants to have more orders, so we need to reput 1 green in the bag, no? (only if it's the first order i think) or, as the first pips is free, drawn only one chits for the first order if it's an 2 pips order value.

yes we think to do that too... so the player has the possibility to play another unit for the last pip left... i think it's ok.

testing too! the only "problem" we found is when an army have some "2 pips" units (Hordes, Elephants...) and the opposite army, none. It, maybe, be harder for this player to move these units. For now i didn't found the way to control that... (apart to move these troops in prority at turn 1, or to choose armies that have the same number of dumb units! but...)

some people on FB test them, seem that for Hoplites (shield and spear are separated as usual) it is quite good, same quality, maybe hard to clean up but it seem the Hoplites are quite good for that. painting soft plastic is maybe harder and paint is often more fragile. also plastic ones are maybe as harder as metal ones for adding holes to hoplites hands (hard to do holes in soft plastic so... this must be cut with care? maybe the only interest is the price, but, you have to buy a buch of hoplites (enough to do several dba armies) so not sure it's interesting at the end for DBA. (Box contents: 1 x mounted general, 8 x foot command (assorted mix of poses), 72 x hoplites (assorted mix of poses), 6 x cavalry (assorted mix of poses), 12 x peltasts (assorted mix of poses) (and yes i already have a lot of xyston metal hoplites so.. )

(And as I have said many times before, why can’t the Camp Followers return? Did the last one out slam the gates and they all forgot to bring the key? ) No it's because they eat all the food and drink all the beer and wine, so the camp is now useless and so, they decided to go and see if they can found other good place to eat!
