a small Christmas House Rules : 2 ideas : with the goal of giving Mounted more move liberty (but not only, it reduces the xray TZ issue for all units) 1) You are considered IN a Threat Zone when your are INTO this one, not at the far edge. Like that, the rule that give the choice to a mounted unit to recoil either 1 BW or its own base depth if this is less, is now usefull! (especially as foot units are not pursuing mounted ones) > so a sort of retreat action with the possibility of moving away after, a much more realistic action for a mounted unit. i think it resolves also the problem of the diagram from Threat Zone (again....) front edge... far edge... thread : fanaticus.boards.net/thread/3620/threat-zone-again-front-edgeas now, with this House Rule, the blue unit C can do what she wants (not blocked anymore by Red 2 Threat Zone) 2) in the same idea but more "changing game" one : Foot units could only TZed other Foot units (with perhaps the exception of shooters who could TZed everybody), Mounted could TZed other Mounted and foot units.

and... about Threat Zone, i understood that it is active when you are IN, not at the border of.
For me it was logical as for example, mounted have the choice of recoilling either 1 BW or its own base depth if this is less. Soooo, after a fight, if the result is a recoil, a mounted unit could decide to exit of TZ (especially from foot units who are not pursuing mounted ones) so a sort of retreat action with the possibility of moving away after, a much more realistic action for a mounted unit.

totaly agree with all pts above, Thanks guys for these tips! i also use a technic to correct some errors i could make : i have another brush (wet) to attract speedpaint to this brush (it could be a 1 or 2 but with a precise tip), and after cleaning it, adding more water (not too wet!) to this brush and clean the part of your fig, repeat one time and normally all speedpaint color is gone... after, it is a question of patience!

reducing my pile of shame DBA Armies! planned : to reach 50 differents armies objective! all 15mm I/24 Hittite Empire III/28 Carolingian Frankish III/25 and.. Arab Conquest and other arabs Armies IV/45 Mamluk Egyptian IV/64 Medieval French IV/62 100 years war English III/74 Seljuk Turk IV/55 Ottoman II/74 Palmyran IV/63 Aztecs I painted 7 DBA Armies in 2022, so it will be an ambitious objective! and it's only around DBA, there will be also a English DBN army to finish, and some more WWII things too! it will be a busy year!

The tweaks I take from it are: 4Ax need to be improved a bit (perhaps 4Bw as well) Rivers rules need to be sorted out Fast troops slowed down a bit Bd v Kn can be left alone Pk improved a bit. There are some twerks as well. (I assume that a twerk is a rather large tweak) Invader/defender balance Lining up Aggression." so no worries, but no mention of TZ tweaks? and nothing around LH ?

agreed with Jim, something around TZ... - maybe Foot could only TZed other foot? and Mounted other mounted and foot units? - Tzed only inside Tz and not on the far side - and no xray TZ too ? oups ok you said only one.. but yes something around making LH more realistic...

Normally 2, with the bonus still 2 if you want to move all, it's just usefull if you want to move one unit for 1 pip but yes if for example the general (El gen) is in the middle of the group, we can imagine than all the group move for 1 (3 units including the El gen) (maybe one time in the game, as it's really powerfull : if you place correctly your general,you can motivate 4 units at the same time!) it's always the same with house rules! at start it seem simple and you see that it is changing quite lot of things and it cause rules balance problems! (maybe it's because this rule is already so well balanced that a small change cause cascading problem? ) oh btw it was only a morning idea!

not unfair as you need to move your general with this unit to get that "bonus" and it work only for one unit, not a whole group : ex if you have a group of 3 elephants (Classic Indian army ) after the first bound, you'll need 2 pips to move it, if you general is in contact of one unit, the bonus is only applied to this unit, or his own unit, not on the whole group, but yes, it could change a little the balance (house rules idea! )

Hi, a morning 2 cents idea : (edited) - a general in contact (read, on his side, front, back but not corner to corner) of another unit, who normally cost 2 pips to move, cost only one pip. thanks to the motivation he gives to the troops at his side. - note it can be used by general for his own unit (elephant general for example) as the general unit is always "motivated"! - if for example, the general (El gen) is in the middle of the El group, all the group move for 1 pip (3 units including the El gen) (same for a Hd group) maybe one time in the game, as it's really powerfull : if you place correctly your general,you can motivate 5 units (including the general one) in the same time! (it's quite dangerous for that general btw...)

i would like to know which minis will fit for the 2 x LH (Syrian Mounted Archers? ) (i suppose they can be used also for the II/56 first Roman empire LH?)

maybe around river theme? (opening Pandore Box i know... ) as i like the possibility to have river on game board, but it seem "unplayable" or at last not interesting to play with... we often discussed about what are the advantages or disavantages of different type of rivers... but no way for me to remember the rules subtilities about that (maybe it's because nobody want to play with river!)

i'm thinking that Blind General added more fun and excitement for DBA 3.0 games? not enough to not stop? (that's the case for me anyway, since you showed this house rule, i think i prefer playing DBA with that rule! almost a new game! ) so... you're finishing with an equal score with Mitch? how many dba 3.0 games did you play in total? (i'm sure it's impressive! )

argh, Tony! it was not only because your videos around dba 3.0, but also we had more and less the feeling to be with you and your friends around the DBA table, also, it is so nice to have the possibility to look dba game during work! so please, i know that +it is difficult to set up the sound with lot of friends talking in the same time, but i prefer that that no video at all! btw other video around dba or around other games or painting minis are great too!
