Very interesting!
Unless that is intended to represent a historic range of uniforms, it shows a quite a range.
It does appear to be a set from the later period based on the uniforms on the far left and right. It is probably safe to assume that in the earlier periods that there was also a regional variety. For one thing there was no overriding authority to set a standard.
For another it travel between regions was more difficult and time consuming.
One other note, the illustration on the far left has a cross of ST George rather than the St. Andrews shown in Armies of the Middle Ages and the painting I mentioned.

Good link, and it looks like used copies of “War in the Middle Ages” are available thru Amazon at quite reasonable prices.
As to Fomigny, I doubt my nephew will let the archers and artillery do their work.
Also interesting in that the Book IV army list disparages the francs archers. In contrast to Heath in Armies of the Middle Ages wherein he notes their contribution as being crucial in at least one battle...

Good information timurilank. Apparently what appear to be bare arms on those MID107 spearmen - no visible cuff at the wrist - are shirtsleeves.
Will take that into account when I paint the next batch (with somewhat of an apology to Essex as it appears based on this that the crossbowman is appropriately painted, although the spearman appears to be wearing a blue tunic...).

Very interesting.
Were the French gendarmes mounted in all three battles?

Scale Creep Miniatures got a restock Gladiator line, so odered some Pruss/Lithuanians -
4 x FE029 Prussian/Lithuanian axemen (GM-FE029) = $18.40 4 x FE027 Prussian/Lithuanian spearmen (GM-FE027) = $18.40 3 x FE012 Prussian light cavalry (GM-FE012) = $13.80 3 x FE013 Lithuanian light cavalry (GM-FE013) = $13.80 4 x FE028 Prussian/Lithuanian archers (GM-FE028) = $18.40
Had looked at ordering direct from Fighting 15s (when Scale Creep was out of stock), but postage across the pond was going to be more than the price of the minis.
For reference, the order from Alternative had a list price of 91 GBP (before 15% discount) and postage was 25.50 GBP for a package weight of 1.1 kg. Another reason I buy in quantity when Alternative has a sale - they don't refund VAT, but offer free shipping on larger which usually comes out ahead.

Also 3 elements of SP for the Spanish - one of MID-85s and two of the MID-107 Hermandad Militia painted generically as the 'c' army is a bit early for the 'official' Hermandads (besides, the Essex website example isn't painted per the actual Hermandad uniform). Curious... What characterizes Hermandad uniforms? According to Wiki, the later Hermandad had a green uniform (no illustration). This after Ferdinand and Isabella had made them into a sort of constabulary. Heath in Armies of the Middle Ages (vol. 1) states that many of the crossbowmen in illustration wore a white tunics and hood with red St. Andrew's crosses on the breast and back with red red hose and sandals or boots - warfare.cf/WRG/Middle_Ages_1-93-Hermandad_Militia-15C.htmThat webpage doesn't have link/s to period illustrations, but in the past while 'researching' I have seen an illustration of a Spanish victory in North Africa in the early 16th C that so depicted them. The preceding illustration of Spanish infantry doesn't include any Hermandad spearmen of cavalry so I can't say for certain that they would have the same 'uniform,' but I will probably paint the spear/pike for my 8CB in those colors.

Found a couple of more of the Mike's Models 13th C knights in the lead pile. Had one painted in early Hospitaler colors so decided to make a mixed KN element with a Templar and a Teutonic knight. Finished painting them and glued them to base for my Later Crusaders or as support for some of the other Book IV armies.
Also painted and glued to base an old Alliance/TTG Bolt Thrower with three crew (Alternative Armies EQ2 - two crew) that will go into the pool for later Book I and Book II armies - the officer is wearing an Attic helmet.

Nice looking scenario. May be able to pry the nephew away from the Xbox to have a go at it as soon as finish a few of the needed elements.
Will be interesting to see whether if ,as he will probably be the French, my impetuos nephew goes for the dismounted BD option and how that plays out.

Alternative order arrived yesterday - one figure short on one code, but a couple of extras for two other codes so, on balance ahead.
Got some replacements for the mules that were sent by mistake on the last order.
And as I had requested, got some 15mm minis instead of the free 28mm offered as a bonus. Ended up with 4 of the MEC4 13th C Frankish knights.
Good service.

Well, kaiphranos, that vase is bad enough, might not want to let her see this picture of a rather 'Scythian' looking 'Trojan' archer - www.ancient-origins.net/sites/default/files/Trojan-archer.jpg?itok=JlFDTtxuThose aren't 'polka dots' but small images of horses and riders and what appear to be cats. And then there are those those multi-colored geometric designs... P.S. While reasonably colorful, my Skyths are quite subdued in comparison.

Have still been (intermittently) working my way thru 'The Art of War in Italy 1494-1529.'
Interesting to see battle descriptions from the Italian Wars describing the advancing and redeploying of artillery during the course of battles. One had the impression from (somewhat limited) reading of the Thirty Years War that artillery thru that period was static once initially emplaced.

More nice work on those Armenians paul, and a belated Merry Christmas as well.
A few days ago I finished painting and glued to base an Allince/Tabletop Games Stone Throwing Engine with three crew (Alternative Armies EQ3, although Alternative only supplies two crew).
Also repainted the kontoses(?) and repainted some of the armor on a dozen Essex RO-42 Roman/Palmayran Cataphracts that I got already painted - too monochrome - to make 3 elements of clibanarii for my Eastern LIR BBDBA army. Only one element glued to bases as two of the horses require some epoxy - rear legs broken.
And 3 Roundway RKF-06 Mounted Handgunners painted and glued to bases as an element of CV (petardiers) for the Medieval German 'c' list - Book IV French army lists don't include mounted handgunners and besides having three of the figures made a CV element the logical choice.

Interesting site - a good find. Would be nice to have more depth in some of the areas/nations, but then there are so many arms that are documented (if at all) in obscure and hard to access references. I am very curios about what the charge on this shield is - wappenwiki.org/images/3/39/Kornicz.svgAnd when it dates to...
