The bad news is that unfortunately, no really good options to buy from in contintental Europe exist, unless you are interested in the niches covered by the manufacturers mentioned so far. Which all do make excellent figures and other stuff.
I believe that the increased popularity of 3D printing in wargaming in continental Europe has to do with the problematic situation of availability for many ranges of wargames miniatures.
Do you know whether those fees are national or standardized in EU? IIRC you pay VAT at the rate for the country you are in . Yes, that is true. However, the customs service is quite erratical in Germany (and, I assume, in other EU states too). The post company (which also imposes fees) is worse.
Plus they do not only add VAT, but also a handling fee - I am not sure whether the handling fee is imposed by the customs service, the post company, or by both. It seems to vary wildly.
I am not sure on what grounds exactly these things are decided in practice, but it feels like a lottery.
For large orders, it might be worth the hassle. For small orders (which my orders usually were in the past), I find it too much of a nuisance and avoid doing it. This has drastically reduced my spending on wargames related items - while I have ordered two or three times a year from UK based companies in the past, I have now not done so for two years.

...here in Switzerland there is a duty-free amount. If the goods come by post, €80 is duty-free. If I buy the goods in Germany, €300 is duty-free. Regardless of whether I travel by car or by train. The prerequisite for this is a mailbox in Germany...

I got a £25 charge on an order from Miniature World Maker in Aus to the UK , almost 50% was a Royal Mail "handling fee" . PS: at the time the UK was still in the EU .

As this island it is both in EU and Commonwealth?

This is interesting. You have experience with that store? Hi Rudi,
Yep, I have ordered at least 2 DBA armies and several other things from them since 2020. They are very fast and the service is good. Their website is a little tough to navigate, but they have almost all Essex codes available. If they don't have it on their website, if you email them, they are happy to get it.
Best, Ed

I am in the US, but have done quite a bit of business with alternative Armies as I like the figures and the prices are quite reasonable. Medievals - www.alternative-armies.com/collections/15mm-medieval-medus-rangeSHIPPING - "Europe (all regions): Small Order (7.00GBP) up to 20.00GBP value of order, Standard Airmail (10.00GBP) from 20.01GBP to 124.99GBP orders over 125.00GBP free standard shipping (not tracked). Tracked Airmail Shipping is a flat rate of 15.00GBP on any order size. Order Values are AFTER any discount is applied before shipping is calculated in the cart." My impression is that for non-VAT countries (US) is that instead of taking off the VAT (included in the pricing) they use it to offset shipping. Not sure how that works for EU.
