Starting back with DBA 3.0 after playing DBA ten years ago. My first army pair will be the beleagured II/81a Sub-Roman British fighting the savage II/68a Pictish Army. Does anyone know where I can buy a pot of tartan paint? I hope to share my progress here on Fanaticus Forum. The Essex figures are in the mail. Looking forward to getting back onto the 24" square battlefield in this fascinating and vibrant DBA corner of the hobby. Can anyone suggest my third army to fight these two? Perhaps 11/73 Old Saxons? What do you suggest?

Welcome back to the fold. Looking forward to seeing the battles, I dont know how they will get on in DBA but the Picts take me apart in SAGA regularly.
As yo the next force to collect it would be remiss of me not to say squint a little and think the Picts are Ancient Brits and go for EIR as the third force.
An advantage of EIR is you can then go on to work your way through their enemies and have a project to last you through the rest of your days.

Yes, II/73 early Anglo-Saxon is a fun army to use, in context ๐๐ผโฆand Scots-Irish, (might be II/54a, book not nearby), coming at the SRB and Picts from a different direction would be another possibility (they fought both the armies you have).

Does anyone know where I can buy a pot of tartan paint? I think I have a pot of tartan paint somewhere. Iโll have a look later. First though, do you want the checks to be horizontal or vertical? I seem to recall my tartan paint is vertical checks. Cheers, Geoff ๐
