Hey all, Just played a game in 6mm using my new big sabot bases (fitting 4 40x20mm bases into one ~80mmx40mm base) on a 4x4 table. Romans vs Carthaginians. Filmed the game and put it on Youtube for your enjoyment. Might do more videos but I don't have as many army options in this base size (might need to buy more Gauls and Samnites to make 12 element armies) Comments and likes appreciated! Epic - 6mm always looks grand, just so goddam tricky to paint. Good to see the Romans with a reserve, but also highlight how the battle can already be lost before you can get them into play.

WOW! Thanks for the link, shrimplyamazing.
PLUS side great figures, simple but very pleasing tabletop. great idea to base velites in more deep formation. camera (a mobile I presume) captures lot of detail of figures
UNSURE Is the initial Roman Velite double move a legal move when their second move is so close to their enemies? Did you forget to include flank factor in second velite v carthaginian psiloi in woods after first roman velite fell back?
NEGATIVE side the quick movement of your mobile camera soon rendered me 'sea sick' / 'motion sick' - I had forgotten how that feels till now!!
CarlL off to recover my 'balance' !!

Did you forget to include flank factor in second velite v carthaginian psiloi in woods after first roman velite fell back? No the second move would be illegal , as it comes within a base width . To get an overlap on Ps , the element must be past the front edge of the Ps . Ps can group move in bad going , so its only 1 PIP to move the 2 elements . Also first bound its only 1 PIP to move the group with the El .

Hi everyone, Thanks yes the velites move was invalid, not that it ended up having an effect on the game. I hadnt played DBA in a while and was too focused on the fact that I could double move into the forest i forgot about that part of the rules. Appreciate the other corrections as I havent played in a while Apologies for the camera movements, sadly unavoidable with my setup. It just wont be for everyone.

shrimplyamazing,
perhaps putting your mobile in a static stand that can see the whole battlefield, and move the figures rather than the mobile camera, would take out the likelihood of motion fatigue for your viewers? CarlL

Looks awesome! Always wanted to do this but was never going to have the patience. Great to see someone get it on the table. Well done.
Jim
PS Merry Xmas to all

Shrimply, you sound so young! 25, Snowcat but I've been playing DBA on and off since i was probably 10, though it has been quite a gap between playing as of late, as seen by the mistakes. -- I might get a phone stand, but i do like focusing on each fight and dice roll as it happens so I'll have to work out a system which doesn't look too wobbly.

For some reason, I expect everyone here to be in their 40s or 50s, or older!
