I keep reading how DBA is "chess-like" compared to other miniatures.
Not sure if this is a DBA variant or a chess variant.
Played on 8 x 8 chess board with with each square equivalent to 1 BW
Middle 16 squares are bad going with one of the middle 4 squares being BUA.
DBA pieces placed as follows:
King - KNT/HCH (General), designated as CAMP Queen - KNT/HCH Bishops - CAV/LCH, or CAM Knights - LHO/LCM Rooks - Choice of SCH, ELE, ART, or WWG Middle four Pawns - Choice of SPR, PIK, BLD, or HRD Two left and two right Pawns - Choice of AUX, WBD, PSI, or BOW
Unit moves alternate as in chess
Movement same as in DBA (no piece forced to move diagonally, e.g.) with diagonal moves and facing rotations equal to 2 squares.
Units must face a square side.
Combat takes place as in DBA.
Thoughts or comments?

(Although up to now I always said NO to that. ) But alternate moves as in chess are maybe a bit too much... They might give the defender to many advantages? Or maybe change your rules to: "Unit or group moves alternate as in chess" (Which means that every player has a standard PIP throw of 1 in his turn. ) And I definitely will try this with my beautiful miniatures.

That would render Hordes and Elephants unable to move after the first turn
