I've been reading a bit about Nebuchadnezzar I (1126-1105BC). Naturally, I began to covet a I/21a Kassite Babylonian army of his era. The figures listed in the Essex army-pack seem more appropriate for the "b" version, or even later.
Any suggestions for building a 12th Century BC version of this army in 15mm? Are there even any options other than the ubiquitous Essex?

Chariot miniatures is now out of production and business. They had several figures that would have been very good. Warlord games has a 'Kassite' army in 28mm. Actually they also call it a Mitanni army, so I think it is probably generic. I'd look at it for ideas however. I found very few bas reliefs of the actual army, one guy had the body of a duck, presumably for crossing a river! I can't figure out how to post pictures. Chariot miniatures used to make a Sea Peoples figure which looked very much like the kassite chariot runners in the Warlorld range. Essex has such a large range of figures that I would have thought that you could pull out earlier figures from the range. BS 7 Sumerian archer, for example, looks like some of the kassite warlord figures. BS 27-33 and the Kharu archers might all be appropriate. forum.wgcwar.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=998&p=5777&hilit=kassite#p5777 is Texas Maximus' interpretation of the army, its the 'Triumph' website forum. First, if you register on the website you could correspond with him, because he doesn't identify the figures he used for the army; BUT I strongly suspect Gladiator Games figures. He admits to the use of later looking figures in the army, but they still look very bronze age to me. fighting15s.com/product-category/gladiator-miniatures/biblical/canaanites-syrians/?v=7516fd43adaa Texas Maximus says that the kilt should be the defining feature of the infantry. The Biblical Gladiator ranges have a ton of figures that could be good for early bronze age. Even some of the Sea Peoples might fit the army based on the Warlord games Kassite figures. Gladiator is at fighting15's.com These take some skill to get them to look good, like Tex.

The other defining feature of an early army like this might be a wicker shield. Again we regret the loss of Chariot miniatures who had 15mm hillmen figures. But, Viking Forge also has an assyrian figure which might be appropriate to mix in with Gladiator games figures!

Ancient and modern (formerly donnington) do separate wicker shields if conversions are you thing. shop.ancient-modern.co.uk/eq38-rectangular-wicker-pavisesparabara-3012-p.aspK

I'm guessing this is the Chariot Miniatures Hillman figure you're thinking of. That figure makes up the two Solid Hordes in my I/20b Syro-Canaanite army. Thanks for the suggestion to look at Gladiator Miniatures. Those were sculpted by Josef Ochman, I believe. Lots of character and animation.

Here is a Gentleman who has attempted what you want, though he does say it is more suitable for the latter period rather than the earlier. forum.wgcwar.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=998
