This is based on Robert Sheckley's short story The Battle. As it doesn't seem to be on the web anymore: Armageddon is about to happen, and for some reason it must be a battle between us humans and legions of Hell. Only we have robotic machines to do the fighting in our place - the only humans concerned are the generals and staff directing them from a bunker on the other side of the world. The devils are beaten back to Hell, and God brings the machines into Heaven, leaving humans behind. The end. ( NOT one of Sheckley's best )
I should think the concept is one to warm the blood of any right-thinking HOTT player…
There is no problem with the Legions of Hell ( then again, there never is ) . Hero General : Satan . 1 Behemoth : Behemoth . 1 Airboat : Marchocias leading the fallen angels bomber flight . 4 Warbands : demons . 5 Hordes : damned and elementals STRONGHOLD: Portal to Hell
The problem lies with the machines' command structure.
My solution, on which I'd like your opinion, would be to give them no General and have them always In Command - it gives them an advantage but I think it corrects the relative advantage of Hell's army.
. 2 Riders ( Supreme General Fetterer’s Mechanized Cavalry Corps ) . 2 Fliers ( General Dell’s Robot Interceptor Corps ) . 2 Knights ( General McFee’s Automatic Tank Corps ) . 6 stands to be selected from Spears, Blades or Shooters in any combination thereof ( General Ongin’s Robot Infantry Corps ) STRONGHOLD: bunker with human generals and staff
Actually, my first idea had been, to give it a more Armageddonian grandeur, to give 3 armies to the forces of Hell and make each of the robot corps ( 3x 6 stands and 1x 18 stands ) roll its own PIPs independantly. I wasn't happy with the result.

Certainly sounds more realistic than peoples attempts to fix LH armies.

Thanks ! Actually Sheckley did most of the job, I just had to follow the description ( too bad I couldn't wedge in Astaroth as a Magician but there's a limit to what you can do with 24 AP )

Sounds marvellous, ashimbabar! I like your HoTT army building very much.
But isn't the name of Satan a bit too big for a Hr Gen? I think he should better be a god or the Hr Gen a high demon or so.
But certainly it all depends on the literary original and if the army 'feels' right in battle.
And this too depends certainly on its enemy on the battlefield... decisions, decisions...
Great job!

Thanks !
In the story he was described leading the center of Hell's army, so I had to put him in person ( with Bael on the right and Buer on the left IIRC. Actually it was one more point against the 3x24 scheme as making them Heroes Gens would have made them too strong and Wb Gens too weak ).
It's true that although he's the most powerful stand in the battle he doesn't dominate the battlefield - but then, those machines are tough
